I heard that the splines at the drive shaft need to be relubed with a better grease. If so how should I remove and replace the rubber boot? The truck is a 95', manual trans, 4.0L, 4x4, reg cab. Any suggestions?

Not the u-joints. Replaced 4000 miles ago when I had the drive shaft balanced. There isTSB 4-23-07 that supercedes 3-26-02.
Now I'm still wondering what is the easiest way to remove and replace the driveshaft boot.

Yes, it the output shaft splines. There's a TSB on it tough I don't recall the no. There's a blue Teflon grease for it.

If you hear the same noise when you suddenly take the foot off the gas pedal whilst driving, you can be sure to replace the universal joints on the propshaft

Everyone is correct. Have the universal joint replaced. No big deal.

Set the parking brake.
Put it in "neutral"
Climb under it and shake and twist the drive shaft.
I'm guessing it's the U-joints.
