I had my wisdom teeth out on Wednesday. The last couple days, I have woken up with pain on the side that didn't swell up as much, but after taking some ibuprofen, it usually goes away. The other thing is that when I feel the stitches in that area, with my tongue, there is a really icky taste that comes from there. It used to just be a little taste of blood, but now it's like a really potent blood taste or something... I'm not sure how to explain it. Is this normal?

you want to call and go back to the dentist to check for a dry socket and try and keep your tounge away from the area even though you have stiches you can still get a dry socket and still not have any swelliing , sometimes the swelling is the bodies natural part of the healing process. some times the motrin same thing that is what you are taking causes bleeding so try tylenol if not allergic if there is the bad taste is usualy a sign of infection so make sure you call your dentist you dont want to mess with a dry socket make sure you done use any straw nothing that causes a sucking motion

Yep completely normal. I had my stitches out last year and had the same thing. Since our mouths are pretty small the doctor/dentists can't always get it all cut short. If it is really bothering you see if you can (carefully!!) cut it yourself. You will probably be going back in a week to have the stitches taken out anyways (or they will self dissolve).I would say just deal with it and see if you can tuck the string up. Hope you are feeling ok. I know what it is like :)

quite normal especially if you are a smoker it just takes slightly longer for the clot in the owund to settle and heal and associated inflammation is a natural process.however you could get a condition called 'dry socket' if the healing process for some reason gets compromised. if it hasnt got better a week after the surgical procedure then you ned to see the oral surgeon again or the dentist

Yes, it is normal. It will take some time for the smell to go away. Ask the dentist if you can gargle with Listerine. My dentist say i can do so once i dont feel the pain of the surgery.

Yes, it's normal. You can rinse your mouth out with warm salt water if you do it carefully. This will help cleanse and heal the wound and eliminate the odor.

How could you get oral surgery performed on you, yet the doctor didn't tell you what to expect or not expect?
