I don't think its as black and white as that. Its a mixture of the two. Genetics, disease, etc. may make you more prone to it, but your lifestyle may end up being the determining factor as far as if you are or aren't.

well i believe it's more of a lifestyle choice cause there are people who are born on the heavier side of the scale but yet when they grow up they become slim and skinny. The main factors that contribute to obesity among people are exercise and food choices... If everyone exercises and make healthier food choices then obesity wont be an health issue all over the world!

I think its a little of both. Genetics do play a role in your body type and height/weight ratio, but lifestyle is also important.

I don't think wealth really has much to do with it. There are plenty of examples of the rich who are also overweight even though they have better access to medical care/trainers etc. Also you would think that being poor would make you thin, as you can't afford food, but that's also not always the case (especially in America!)

I think it's a little of both. You have people saying alot of it, But the real choice is changing both. I have a family with heart , diabetics, obese problems(big time). But I will not let them think I have to be like them. I stay thin for me.It's healthier for everyone I will live happier.
