In America the evangelical christians can be pretty damn hardline about things, often expressing Christianity in wrong light...
Does this cause extremism (strong dislike) against them, as 'extremists' themselves.... is this not causing an out break of general extremism in every direction...
... Does this question even make any sense?!?

No. People use religion as an excuse for extremism when it is their interpretation of religion and their choice to behave as they do.

You will have noticed that when a discussion gets heated we tend to adopt extreme positions and arguments.
I thing the lesson is always to keep your temper in this sort of discussion (and politics) and avoid being trapped into an extreme position because the other side will also do the same thing and you will get nowhere and fail even to agree to disagree

No you had it right the first time. That is why you also have extreme atheists. Such as your communist cousins. Truth is you will find extremists in any view point. The challenge is to find out whether these people were extreme before they joined their new cause.

The problem with extremism, no matter how it manifests itself in our world, is that ultimately it brings hatred!

Extremists tend to feed on bitterness and hatred towards whatever upsets them, which sadly often erupts into violence towards somebody or something!

Yes, there are christians who are so zealous that they cause offence to others around them, but most are simply trying to bring the Love of Jesus into this world! When Jesus' Love for all is the driving force in a Christian's heart, spirit and soul, then even when they are taking an opposite view to another person, His Peace will reign! (Would that I could always manage this, but I'd be a liar if I said that I did, for I am human and sometimes fail Him and have to ask His Forgiveness !)

The problem with extremists is that they can only see their own point of view, when it comes to 'religion' in particular it is difficult to see how they can justify the atrocities that are carried out in the name of God (no matter which one they claim to serve!)!

Bitterness, hatred, greed and intolerance are rife in every section of society, every country throughout the world, because someone, somewhere has found 'likeminded' people to feed on it with!

There are times when there is no other course but to stand and fight (as when the Allies stood against Hitler in the second World War!), but that is concious decisions, taken by an elected government. Not because someone can't stand the viewpoint of another person on a given topic!!!

As for David b comparing people like myself to cows who have foot and mouth, presumably he would like us all shot, that is an extreme view!

Some years ago animal rights activists broke into a laboratory and set free lots of weasels (I think that was the type of animal)! It was an extreme thing to do and was responsible for the devastation of a whole county's natural wildlife for some years!

Extreme views do cause Extremism in religion there is no doubt, but that doesn't make it right! Which is why the world we live in is in such a mess, with God being USED as an EXCUSE for global terrorism in one form, or another!

GOD IS LOVE AND WE ARE MADE IN HIS IMAGE AND WOULD DO WELL TO REMEMBER THAT EVERY TIME WE USE VIOLENT LANGUAGE OR VIOLENCE TOWARDS ANOTHER PERSON, WE ARE DOING SO TO GOD!!!

To be extremist all you have to be is a sick fanatic, in any subject or belief.

You can also be dogmatised, indoctrinated or brainwashed.

Some baseball fans are extremists, the Tennis fan who shot Monica Seles was extremist, some military peoples are extremists, and so on.

Peace to you

I have to go back to my brothers in Justice on this one. Peace came to you and you have to take rememberance in why it was translated to all languages.
You know how hard it was for King Constantine to mess with the first book and he did a terrible job of it, you can see all the parts the devil messed with easy! That goes thripple for the Torah. We have many good words in both beyond imagination as the brothers and sisters in faiths of thier books and believes have made a choice. They also have to make a choice and so that is easy for us, we make choices all day long. We multitask them like no one ever has!

Extremism OF ANY KIND tends to lead to extremism. Actions having equal and opposite reactions and all that. Why pick on 'religion'?

Poverty is in many situations a defining clarification for extremist ideology. because of the fact it particularly is much less confusing to hate each physique who has issues you do no longer than to have self belief that someway you're to blame to your guy or woman destiny and there is no one to blame while undesirable issues ensue. it particularly is like numerous extremist place, like racism case in point, in that it gets indoctrinated in human beings, to boot. Father to baby, neighbor to neighbor, and so on. worry is contagious, and we consistently worry that which we don't understand.

Yes. Extremism in any form tends to cause extremism in response. Islamic extremism has led to Christian extremism. Christian extremism has led to a backlash of extremism against it.

I think it is uninformed and ill-tempered ones who respond quickly with anger, even when it is unwarranted, who take people rather aback.
