also does it make their fur softer?

Is she getting fat really quickly? Does she have diarrhea? If so, cut back on the oil a little. It can help her fur and skin, plus bulk her up if she seems to be thin as it has a lot of calories. There are special oils just for cats for this purpose, but if she seems fina with this, it should not be a problem.

Yes, that's way too much. You'd only need 1/4 tsp every other day. Otherwise their livers are working overtime to try to deal with the heavy oils.

Use canola oil over any other one, but flax oil or primrose oil are easier on their stomachs. They don't need much, and none at all if they don't have dandruff. Oil helps the skin, not the fur. Good quality nutrition makes the fur soft.

That is ok but would try olive oil or Omega 3 1 capsule.

Yes and don't use vegetable oil. Buy human grade fish oil capsules. Break one open and squeeze onto your pets food once a day. It does wonders for the fur not to mention the extra benefits of omega-3. I also give them to my dog

I would change to giving her olive oil, since the fats in it are more beneficial to the skin and coat. I would probably only give her 1/2tsp a day or 1tsp every other day, so that it doesn't interfere with her digestion. A combination of good healthy fats, such as olive oil, and daily grooming may help soften her coat.
