I sprained my ankle while on active duty at AT two years in a row. I have LOD's for both of them. My ankle still bothers me. I would go see a civilian doctor, but I don't have any insurance. My unit says that the doctors cleared me and that if I went to see the Army doctor, they couldn't do anything for me. I never had a follow up the second time I injured it. And if it still hurts after the injury, I would think that it is still their responsibility. Does anyone know if I really have the right to see a doctor at the army's expense or at least the right to see one of their doctors. I have all the medical documents saying that I was injured on active duty.

No, they wont cover it. I had a few issues after I did my 4. If you checked out good to go on your final they wont do anything.

Youre probably have the right to a VA Doc though. If you havent been to a VA, its easy to register with them, they just pull your file but itd speed things up if you bring in your 214.

At least it was easy in Idaho and I can go there for free.

No. Non-Federal Medical Care payment for active duty is restricted to emergency care and urgent care away from the vicinity of military treatment facilities. What you need to do is to file a request for redress of grievance under Article 138 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice. This will afford you an opportunity to press your case in an interview with your commanding officer.

Talk to your chain of command and ask them to resolve the problem, and tell them that you have to call the IG or your congressman if they can't help because you are in a lot of pain, and you have no means to see a civilian doctor. Don't be a smart aleck about it, tell them matter of factly like you're coming to them for advice. It is their job to take care of the problem. If they don't resolve it, write your congressman. They'll figure out something.

Push the issue. Write a letter. Go see the doctor.

Yes, if you still have your ID. How can they deny you medical treatment, you were on active duty when it happened so they have to. Call a VA Hospital and check with them. By the way....THANK YOU!

Well, I have a foot rot during my Army and after I ORD, I have to pay for the consultation and medication fee myself.

You can try calling the SAF hotline or consult your MP about your situation, to see if they can give any solution if the fee is a burden to you.
