I am going to buy my kids a ps3 and i would like to no what is a HDMI Cable and also do i need to get one, Thank you.

hdmi cable is the cable used to connect the ps3 to a high definition television, you only need it if thats wot u are gonna connect the ps3 to.

If you have an High Definition (HD) Television then yes you can use an HDMI 1.3a cable to hook your ps3 up to get the best quality from the high def..If you do not have a hidef tv then no you do not need one. THe ps3 comes with av cables...
To the guy who says the xbox is the better choice....REd ring of death ( a Hardware failure that effects 33% of all 360s)

if you have a HDTV then the hdmi is a must get. hdmi is a high def cable that enhances the ps3's graphics. you still can hook up composite cables to a hdtv but its not gonna look any better. you cant use a hdmi to a regular tv

I very recently bought a PS3 from Curry's - got them to throw in a free HDMI cable - games look awesome in high definition.

I regretted getting a ps3. xbox 360 as of now is a better choice. A HDMI cable stands for High Definition Media Interface. Its just a different plug to your tv that delivers the best possible quality right now. But if your tv doesn't have a HDMI output, well, then I guess you dont have anything to worry about.

As has been said, if you have a high definition telly you'll need one of those cables.
I've had a PS3 for a while and there seems to be a dearth of games for it. One thing though - avoid the Transformers game at all costs - it's pants.

you can do just as good with audio/video cables,(red, white yellow)
HDMI cable is good it you have an HD ready TV or Monitor
it will have a slot for it

unless you want to hook it up to a and really want to see the graphics in its full potential then buy one for $100.
