Social Security withholding is 6.2% of the first $97,500 of wages. It does not depend on where you reside.

Medicare is 1.45% of all your wages.

ninasgramma is mostly right. It does not matter where in the U.S. you are, but it is different in other countries.

To save you some math, the total of the two percentages (SS and medicare) is 7.65%.

I think the total amount for social security is 15.3%. You pay half and your employer pays the other half.
