Giving the boss presents can be a touchy subject. I would advise against it.

If you feel you must do something, bring a birthday cake to work. Have everyone in your office sign a birthday card for him.

But it is usually best to avoid presents for the boss . . .

Gifts to bosses are generally frowned upon. Some companies and most public agencies prohibit giving supervisors gifts. If you really feel you need to do something for his b-day, what about a cake and a card and write in the card how much you appreciate all he's done?

If you absolutely must get him something, give him something that may be shared with everyone in the office, such as cake, candy...

Be careful making it too personal as you could be overstepping the boundaries, plus you want to be careful to not encourage any rumours to start about you and how well you do your job. Giving a personal gift appears that you are closer then the boss then you should be in a job role.

Use caution and common sense when entering into this kinda territory.

Make it a "token" type with little monetary value, like a "prize winning boss" plastic badge or a single lottery ticket. When dealing with bosses, it's best to keep the cost very very low. If gifts are costly, then any favorable recognition you receive will be seen by co-workers as based on your "brown-nosing" instead of on your merit.

They have all different sizes, wind chime colors, and you can choose the shape of your wind sail. They have a page of illustration that you can have engraved on the sail also.

How about a gift certificate to dinner. He can either take his wife if he is married...lol...or you if he isin't. Do you already have something going on with him? Most of us don't put a lot of thought into what to buy our bosses...if anything.

A box of very good, quality choclate. It's something anyone would enjoy and it's not too personal.
