We have only have these knives for a week and already 2 have rust stains. Does anyone know how to remove those and aviod them in the future?

You can remove the rust stains with a little metal polish. Here's a link to an article telling how to care for knives and prevent rust stains, as well as exactly how to remove them.

there is one stable and extremely inexpensive product you ought to use for removing rust and it happens to be a can of Coca Cola. i did not have faith it till i attempted it myself. merely place the knives on a cooking pan or in a tall glass and pour the coke over them and depart them over nighttime the rust stains would be long gone. I further the internet handle of a video demonstartion and article on usefull information. be conscious: There are diffrent varieties of stainless-metallic the 300 sequence 4 hundred sequence the 420 is the main usually used and there some over 420 those tend to develope rust stain over the years yet with carefull maintenance they wont, the 4 hundred sequence are stable however the terrific may be the 300 (costliest) The knives purely have stainless inscribed yet they don't say what sequence they're. One stable thank you to verify what sequence they're is making use of a good magnet form of like those on your speaker or on your earphones or a magnet you placed on your refrigerator. A MAGNET won't STICK ON 3 hundred sequence STAINLESS and could by no skill RUST, in case you sense average magnetizem yet not good adequate to adhere that is 4 hundred to 420 sequence. If it sticks its probable 430 and it may probable rust if not taken nicely care of. If it has an fairly good magnetizm then that is not STAINLESS. I artwork in a generating enterprise and we use diffrent varieties of steels so i comprehend approximately those issues. wish this helps you out.

Care of your good knives is important for their longevity.
1 Wash, Dry & Return to the Knife to the block as soon as use if at all possible..never lay it in the sink to sit in water, food etc.
Try a non-abrasive cleaner to remove rust. Rinse & dry with a soft cloth.

Here's the Henckle website of care.

A good stainless steel polish or try toothpaste with stainless steel wool scrubber gentley. As Stainless steel will rust when placed in contact with other metals other than SS. I work in a metal fabrication shop and we do carry out stainless fabrication and stainless welding with SS wire. Very very lightly smear with a good quality cooking oil to prevent or keep totally dry and seperate from other metal products, store in wooden knife block not near sink and steam

Cameo stainless steel and aluminum cleaner costs about a buck and a half, is sold in every grocery store, and removes these marks very well.

Make sure the knives are hand-washed and wiped dry in the future.

Just a thought...those Mr. Clean magic erasers take the rust stains off of my sink, they might work on the knives.
Good luck!

Expensive knives wouldn't rust right away, you got some cheap knives. Let them sit in coke for 24 hours.

I don't know that the stains will come out but you can use a knife conditioner (we bought a bottle of it at I think Target).

Where I'm at right now we immediately wash, dry and put away the Henkels....

Well, make sure they are COMPLETELY dry before putting them away, otherwise they will rust.

I've heard that soaking them in ketchup or coca cola will remove rust. Try both, let them soak for a few hours, then scrub.

Let me know if either work.

No way to remove them. It happend to me. Way to avoid it though, I found out from the Emeril store where mine came from, AVOID THE DISHWASHER!!!

If you wash it in the sink, NO DISH DETERGENT. It is too concentrated and can corode the metal.

Wash with hot water and clean wash rag. Then dry immediatly!
