Hiya everyone. I feel I'm in for loads of attacks for this, but I believe that people who post on here and pour their hearts out to us are to be taken seriously and are genuinely in so much pain that theycan't bare it any more and truly on the edge with one foot over. I think to mock a person's genuine cry, be it for help or to leave behind how they feel, is the act of the heartless.

It is a fact that 75% of all completed suicides have talked about it in the weeks or even months before finaly do it. Being suicidal is like standing at the pits of hell and to mock or trivialise I think is a sad reflection on man kind.

I know some people who have not experienced it don't understand it but what I hate is those that say of those that post on here with, 'I'm gonna end it all posts', 'If I was serious I would not go on here I'd do it for real'. You then find out that they did try and let themselfs be found ! Such hypocricy for those that should know better is baffling. Ayone agree?

Wants shy
That's exactly what I mean. We take them serious and try to get them to get help. Not tell them if they were going to do it they would not be on here they would be doing.

I know what you mean. I saw one just now posted about a day or two ago in which she was proclaiming that if she was serious she'd just do it and not post on here. Then she was attacked, rightly so, and then she said, but I have tried it(suicide). The answers then said, but I thought that you said that if you were serious you'd make sure that you did it. You allowed yourself to be found so by your own claims that people who post aren't serious, so nether was you as you would have gone to the forest where no one would find you and.'just do it'. The asker is now going around trying to troll the person - who just told that asker some home truths that she did not like. The point the answer was making to that person was, people do all sorts of things to show despair. Don't think someone who posts on here isn't serious based on your misconceptions and woe is me, no one is like me because I'd be really suicidal not fake like you. Always take it serious. You could save someones life. Those people who trash others behavior because it does not fit their model are usually the most dangerous sort of answerers.

First of all, suicide is not selfish. It means you have tried so hard and you just are falling apart. I won't pretend to know what it's like because I don't know. But a few months ago, I found out my little sister had cut a time or two. It destroyed me inside, I cried myself to sleep for days and didn't talk or pay attention in school the rest of that week. However I never let her see it because I knew I needed to be strong for her, and I needed to show her that yes I know, but I won't say anything because I know how embarrassed she was. So before I go on talking about my crisis, I just felt like saying, if all these people you've never met care about you, keep pushing. I don't know what it feels like to be that down, but I can promise you that I'll always be telling you in my head to keep on pushing, because you are worth it, and you can fight this. I'll end there before I start bawling. Ps. Have you tried simple over the counter medications such as tums or white foods and ginger ale?

You know your right. About 8 to 10% of those who talk about self extinction realy do mean what they say. The rest are pretenders. How do you tell the difference ..... well you dont. I was an ambulance attendant for a number of years and even the ones that you saw every day at 3 am could have a serious problem just one time. Unfortunatly the cry wolf syndrome tends to wear on those who would otherwise care. I guess that it makes most of us jaded to the out crys of those who really need help. I will make an effort myself to try to be a bit more compassionate to all here.

I was suicidal once and i was looking for a different way out becouse i didn't want to hurt my family, so i was all over the web seeking advice, instead people just put me down and said the most horrible stuff. Well with that in mind said to my self, no one cares I'll do it. So i got a nice sturdy rope and hung myself but someone found my note to early and found me. And people do it everywhere like someone like me was confused and in most of the responses go f*ck yourself, go jump off a bridge, and you wonder how could any human being do that to another. I take any threat seriously and so should other people.

I am not exactly sure what your point is. I believe any suicide threat should be taken seriously. This however is not an appropriate forum for that. The best I can do is advise them to call a suicide hotline

People mock them out of their nature to kick someone who is down. By dismissing them they feel better. We should all value human life. If you have been on this forum for any amount of time, you will see the same people making threats. Personally I hope they get some mental health treatment. To reanswer your question - human nature.

I think you're right. Anyone who says they have thought about it or are going to do it should get help immediately no matter what. And the mocking and such doesn't help the matter any.

People who mock others DO NOT UNDERSTAND what they are going through, and make no effort to find out...

someone who has never been depressed, hasn't a clue what it really means.

making fun of things we don't understand is a great way to show ignorance and stupidity!

if you have the nerve to critizise, then you dont understand at ALL what's wrong w/ these people, it's a sad thing, but at the time, it seems like the only way out
