Every single night I wake up in terrible pain in the calves of my legs. I have a constant feeling of pulled muscles during the day in my calves now. In the night, they cramp for about a minute(feels like an hour), and then they stop after I rub it real hard. I am waking my boyfriend up when I get them. I've tried more potassium, eating bannanas, watermellon, drinking tonic water, taking Q20 or whatever that pill is called. Nothing is working, anyone have any suggestions?

'Charley-horses' is the first place your body targets when you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water! I recommend purified water and Mineral Water mixed 50/50. The Mineral Water is going to put back into the muscles the minerals they are losing on a daily basis. You must drink beyond your thirst to get the benefits of hydration.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body.

In the evening take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. Afterwards, if you have something shaped like a cylinder and made out of hard material (think of a large rolling pin you would use for pizza dough or something) place it under your leg and push down and roll it back and forth...this should massage the spasms out of your leg. It will hurt while you're doing it, but more so the type of pain that actually feels good, in the long run. Afterwards massage an analgesic cream into the area. You will start feeling better very quickly.

The supplement You are talking about is called Co Q 10, it is good for the heart and improving energy. I don't think it would help your night cramps.

500 milligrams of calcium and magnesium taken every evening will help stop this cramping.

Drink more water and eat bananas. Bananas have potassium which prevents cramps. And water keeps the muscles loose. Stretch before bed too. Try to keep the muscles loose.

How long have you had them? If you're on birth control, I'd probably go to the doctor and get that checked out. Certain forms of birth control (especially if you smoke) can cause Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clots in the legs). Maybe get it checked out since you're trying everything and nothing seems to be working. Better be safe than sorry.
