we are having a party today and I had bought some carrots to put on a kabob stick along with other stuff but after cutting up the carrots, I'm wondering how I am going to get those stiff carrots on the stick. Do I just slide them on or is there something special I can do to make it easier?

I would blanch them a little to soften them and then put them on the stick.

I would just slide them onto the cut carrot slices with the kabob stick through the center part of the carrot. But just a warning, you may want to cook the carrot a little bit before putting it on the kabob unless you're wanting it to be somewhat crunchy.

That's a good question! I wouldn't know how to go about doing that either! lol Hmmm...might be a bit hard to put the carrots on the stick!

Maybe if you don't get an answer for this, try making them another way?! Here is an easy way to do tastey carrots:

Buttery Carrots

INGREDIENTS
1 pound baby carrots
1/4 cup margarine
1/3 cup brown sugar

DIRECTIONS
Cook carrots in a large pot of boiling water until tender. Drain off most of the liquid, leaving bottom of pan covered with water. Set the carrots aside.
Stir margarine and brown sugar into the water. Simmer and stir until the margarine melts. Return carrots to the pot, and toss to coat. Cover, and let sit for a few minutes to allow flavors to mingle.

Another way I like is this:

Honey Mustard Carrots

INGREDIENTS
2 pounds carrots, julienned
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley

DIRECTIONS
Place 1 in. of water in a large saucepan; add carrots. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 3 minutes or until tender. In a small bowl, combine the honey, mustard, cumin and cinnamon. Drain carrots well; stir in the butter, salt and pepper. Add honey mixture; heat through. Sprinkle with parsley.

Sorry I can't help more than this! :D

you can use wooden kabobs for grilling. you just need to soak them in water before you put them on the grill so they won't catch on fire.

Carrots would not be very good on a kabob.

Par boil to soften them a bit so they are easier to put on. Be sure to choose the right size...not too big since they are less sweet & prone to split & not too small to thread on skewers.

You'll have to partially cook them before they're soft enough.
I'd steam them in the microwave for a few minutes.

Some time you should try some steamed snow pea pods--they're great on there.

if you pierce them through the center (round) they will split. Pre pierce them from the outside (outer circumference) with a metal skewer...I like the drill idea !?!

Yumm, when do we eat? Shall I bring wine?
