My bf just bought an alien something gaming computer on eBay and it comes with everything but an operating system. I'm not computer savvy and need to know if we still need to get windows for the thing to run properly.

You do need an operating system to run a computer no matter what kind. Operating systems tell the machine how to run and programs such as games run based on the operating system. It would be like having a car, but no engine. Operating systems are like Windows, Linux, Tiger (macintosh), etc.

It needs an OS, but it doesn't need Windows. There are free operating systems out there like Linux, which is very much windows like in it's interface, but it's free. Ubuntu is a version of Linux that has become very popular.
There are other versions of Linux as well that can be run, link provided that talks about different versions of Linux.

Yes, but there are a variety of operating systems out there.
Windows & Mac are the most popular though.

okay you need to install windows operator system for a computer to run with out that your computer will not run do you have cds for operator systems if you dont you need to buy it you can purchase them at any computer store or at k-mart or walmart any place that sells computers, hope this helps you out .
