Awesome question Aileen.

There is not much that we could do. If we report them because they broke the Community Guidelines they will simply get a new account and act like they are some kind of 'Free speech Martyr' which will most likely giving them a boost on their PR and do them a favour.

After seeing all the haters and trolls here, I figure that I have a life to live and I will be much happier if I distance myself from them. After all, unlike the trolls I have a life! I have work to do, I have books to read, I have test to study for, I have homework to finish, I have video games to play and I school to go to! I just don't have the time to debate them all the time.

I am now only voting for best answers and answer good questions only.

近朱者赤,近墨者黑(One takes on the color of one's company.) And I don't want to end up just like them.

BTW, I am going to attend an international debate Conference in Cairo in a few weeks time. Wise me luck!

Cheers'

Thanks for the link, Ai Leen. Now I know better of what a troll really is.

Sadly, we will never be able to fully eradicate trolls in a public community forum such as this one. And even Yahoo! won't entertain or do much because of 'human rights' that trolls will call for. You see, if we report them, these trolls will just say that we are picking on them and not giving them freedom of speech but they don't mull over why people reported them in the first place. Hence, what can we do?

The only way albeit ineffective is to continually report one as and when we see one, as what Yahoo! Answers Team posted in the Community Blog/Forum. Otherwise, we can really just close one eye and try our best to ignore them. It's probably easier said than done (especially for younger members or more quick-tempered users) but that is the only way.

If only you have visited the Malaysian Travel category as well, you would perhaps take comfort in the knowledge that the situation of trolls is relatively less troubling in here. Trolls or/and clones are abundant in that category with some members having as much as 2 accounts, minimum, to avoid detection and suspension by the relevant authority.

I let myself get SO angry when I am deleted for no good reason. I try not to but it is SO unjust. I would LIKE to take these trolls and . . . but then, I would be not better than them.

I can't understand why people try to ruin things for people. This is a nice idea, Y/A, but the trolls and the fact that Y/A never actually investigates has me on the verge of just quitting Y/A altogether. I learn so much here that it would be a real loss, but I am close to just quitting.

We can't get rid of them, they are a part of life, on the net or in the outside world, except that on the net, they know they can hide their stupidity, racism, greed, anger, whatever their problems are, behind the veil of anonymity...Some trolls are harmless, even funny albeit in a comic-tragic way...Others should be hunted like varmin and must be expelled using the few tools that Yahoo Answers puts at our disposal.

So. Trolls of the world, unite and create your own forums...

If there is an answer to that, han wouldn't be posting his question 'Why are Americans who are walking on the streets in China look angry?' again and again and again. ^_^"
