on the grounds that they are prone to believing that which cannot be proven, like fictitious gods and people that can walk on water, raise the dead, make it rain or snow when they feel like it, and all that rubbish? And, most hilarious of all, believe people who say they are the son of a god? Don`t laugh!
Stand by for unprovable bible quotes now.

I have been on a jury and AFFIRMED rather than swear on a book of fairy stories.
Anyway, `swearing` in court is only so you can be charged with PERJURY = telling a lie when you promised you would tell the truth. In future, get your facts right before you answer. Go and stand in the corner. NOW!!!!

The question was; should religious types be banned from jury because....
Your answer suggests they should not because they formed part of the population.
The question was, again: Should they be banned, part of the population or not.l

After divorcing my ‘ Christian ‘ wife in March of this year and witnessing , first hand , the extreme prejudice and perjury by her and her Christian friends .
I would go further and say that in the case where an atheist is on trial , not only should the jury be made up of only atheistic / agnostic people. But the Judge too . In fact , it would not be a bad idea to ban any witnesses who might hold any religious convictions as well LOLZ – Just going by my personal experience.

There's an absolute difference between Spirituality and religion. Religions are formed through interpretation of Scripture. Bible scripture is not religion. Service on a jury has nothing to do with a persons beliefs, whether God or divine revelations can or cannot be proven. In Matthew 22:21 Jesus says "...Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's"
Earthly law is 'Caesar' - man made laws. In 23:3 Jesus says 'whatsoever they (the scribes and pharisees) bid you observe, that observe and do." Scribes and Pharisees = lawmakers/Caesar. Our laws are designed to benefit people...as flawed as they may be, it is an attempt to keep the peace in society. "Your freedom ends where mine begins and my freedom ends where yours begins" (from Civics class) These days, however, it seems a persons actions are not necessarily on trial...lawyers put the law on trial. Jurors are legally bound to follow the law that is 'on the books'; hopefully, the Believers and Unbelievers are honest enough to show the mercy and justice the law allows.
As for you, dear 'questioner' you have an ulterior motive. You are playing a juvenile game; seeking entrapment to make others look foolish. You are not encouraging intelligent 'food for thought'. Your smear campaign is the same tired, recycled, worn-out attack originating from 'ex-spurts" who have never studied the Bible. Thanks anyway for the comedy routine. I laughed anyway.

there are people who don't believe in God who still believe all people are good despite the overwhelming evidence they are not, They set murderers and rapists free to rape and murder again. Should they be on Juries? Or, should they be disqualified for not facing the truth of what really goes on in this world? Does the Jury and court system have any meaning without the bible? Much of how it is set up and run comes from God. Next question?

I think everyone should be banned from sitting on a jury. The only people on a jury nowadays are those who are too dumb to get out of jury duty.
The problem with your idea is that the concept of a jury is a jury of one's peers, those who are similar to the accused. by denying a group the right to sit on a jury, the entire jury system becomes suspect.

The whole point of a jury is that you are tried by your peers which in this case means ordinary people from the street. And in your peers are religious people, atheists, agnostics etc. so that is what the jury should consist of

No why should they, atheists are on juries they believe in fictious fish crawling out of soups and the earth being billions of years old. Politians are convinced they can actually say things that people will believe ..... you could find a reason to stop anyone taking part in a jury.......get a grip man !!

Food for thought:
The secular laws of most countries are rooted in the ten commandments or at the very least reflect them. The laws against murder, theft etc. Should atheists, therefore, be banned from sitting on juries at all because they deny the basis for the laws they are considering. Should they not then be forced to excuse themselves because they feel no valid law was broken?

What about atheists who might automatically say that someone who is religious is guilty of a crime?
There are athesists who are ready to condemn anyone just because that person is religious.
The previous answerer made an excellent point as well.

No quotes, no point, you aren't interested. I have just finished reading Lee Strobel's excellent new book, 'the case for the real Jesus' where the evidence for the reliability of scriptures is given it's full reign, I am open minded enough to study the claims against Christianity, but I don't see it going the other way. Read the book and see for yourself.

Well, if that was the case then how can non-religious people be trusted when they swear on the Holy Bible?
Soon it would become just an elite who are allowed in court, and not a will of the people at all.
