Not against Guilani, or (gag) McCain. But if the Republicans picked a candidate that is both tough on immigration, opposed to NAU and foreign wars they could beat the democrats. I don't think anyone really has their hearts set on Hillary or Obama.

I am not sure if '08 will be the election, but I think one is coming soon where it becomes irrelevant if they are 'Democrat' 'Republican' or whatever. They have divided the issues into unpalatable positions on both sides, in many cases. You have to vote by individual. I hope with all my heart that Edwards is not President. But I would pick him over McCain, and Giuliani over Clinton. What we need it to elect entirely different choices which means using information networks corporate sponsors don't have to pay for to get the word out.

I don't think all the cards are on the table yet. There may be a couple candidates still in the wings. I know that Newt is a firm believer in a short run, so am I, this is ridicules for politicians to run for 2 years and spend millions of dollars in the process.
Call it wishful thinking, or praying, someone with the peoples hopes and needs may come forward.
This is scary, but the other day it occurred to me that similar circumstances is how Hitler got in office.
Consider this, out of 77 members of the trilateral commission a Clinton is one.

What a dumbass idiotic and collossal protection stress blunder by ability of George W Bush's administration. Any opposition from the perfect is on pussy feet and silent slippers whining approximately maybe this and probably that as a tinny complaint. Possibly....but that wont be the only reason they will lose...since taking control of congress, they have actually managed to lower the approval ranking to around 11%. As they are discovering, pandering to special interest groups will buy them nothing...Their only real hope lies in the fact that the Republicans are not offering anything decent as a candidate with the exception of Ron Paul...I am however an Independant voter...Doesnt it bother anyone that the choices we have had for the presidency since Reagan has sucked??? As to the second question, No, America cannot Afford another amnesty...

I sure hope so. My vote will be going to the person who is toughest on immigration It is the one thing that affects all of us.
#1 our health care system is affected by illegal immigrants
# 2 our schools are over crowded by illegals, so our children don't get the education they deserve.
#3 our Prisons are over populated with illegals which cost tax payers for feeding and housing them not to mention the fact that prisoners are released early because there is overcrowding
# 4 our welfare system is overburdened by illegals who are receiving benefits for their family members.
# 5 people who are loosing their jobs and homes due to the cheap labor done by illegals
I could go on and on with the adverse way's that illegals are costing us tax payers.
How it cannot be a priority to some amazes me.

Amnesty is not the answer.
Once someone become a legal citizen then employers will have to pay them the a higer wage.
The employers will then look for more illegals to do the work cheaper.

I hope they do.
But there will not be much difference on the immigration issue between the Republican and the Democratic candidate if the Republicans nominate Giuliani, Thompson, McCain, Huckabee, or Brownback.
Those Republicans all have voting records that favor amnesty.
In the short term illegal immigrants pay into the Social Security system which is almost bankrupt.

They also provide recruits for the military.

The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act, or DREAM Act, is part of the stalled package of proposals that many in Congress are seeking to resurrect. The proposal, applicable to an estimated 750,000 undocumented residents of military age, stipulates that those who arrived in the United States before age 16, graduated from high school, and meet other qualifications could immediately enter the path to citizenship in exchange for at least two years' service in the armed forces.

But not all of them pay taxes.

In the long term Amnesty Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $2.6 Trillion.

Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Hunter have the most conservative voting records on immigration.

Of these three, Ron Paul has the best chance of winning the Primary election.
Paul's campaign has almost 5 times as much money to spend as Tancredo.

Ron Paul has stated that he wants very strong borders and he was appalled that our government had taken border guards off of our borders to send them to Iraq.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/haman3.html
This is his six point plan:
Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

The NAFTA Superhighway might be another significant threat to American borders.
