Well, since malignant basically means it's cancerous or dangerous, and benign means it's not, you'd most likely want it (if you had a tumor) to be benign. I don't known the odds of getting either one, though. Hope I can help.

You've given a choice, so obviously I would prefer a benign tumour. However, the one I have is malignant. It's in my prostate and I've had radioactive pellets inserted into it. The cancer reading was 12 prior to the insertions and it's now down to 3.2 and that's since June 6th this year. I don't suppose anyone truly knows the odds. Many people get a high PSA level with their prostate and nothing happens, it's non-malignant. Mine was nothing for a few years and then turned into a nasty. I really don't think anyone can tell you the odds of something like that - too many differing imponderables for any real figures to be taken. A lump in the breast can be just that, a lump. It can become a cyst. It can become cancerous. No odds on that. Good question but difficult to answer.

You want a benign tumor. That means it is not cancer and will not spread all over your body and kill you, although there are some benign tumors which will come back or continue to grow which can be a bad thing if they are in a confined area like the brain. I can't give you any statistics about the likelihood of one or the other. Cancer tends to invade organ systems more often that single locations. That's the best I can tell you.

Malignant is cancerous, benign is non cancerous... When you get a tumor its got to be 50/50 right If you want a tumor get a beign one... Its just an extra growth..

thats an odd thing to ask. we certainly dont get a choice.
tumors actually arise from altered cell growth and biochemistry.

benign tumor may actually be dangerous if it goes undetected especially in terms of size in growth. but certainly benign tumours when detected early may be controlled. a malignant tumour depending on the state of the cancer will be more dangerous as the name suggests. they grow and spread at a much faster rate than benign.

Testicular cancer has one of the highest cure rates of all cancers: in excess of 90%; essentially 100% if it is not malignant. Even for the relatively few cases in which malignant cancer has spread widely, chemotherapy offers a cure rate of at least 85% today. Not all lumps on the testicles are tumors, and not all tumors are malignant; there are many other conditions such as Epididymal cysts, Hydatid of Morgagni, and so on which may be painful but are non-cancerous. It should be emphasized however that all unusual lumps or pain in the testicles should be checked by a doctor immediately. (Wikipedia)
Testicular cancer begins as a scrotal mass, which may be painful. Diagnosis is by ultrasonography and biopsy. Treatment is with orchiectomy and sometimes lymph node dissection, sometimes followed by radiation therapy and chemotherapy, depending on histology and stage.(Merck)

There's no real answer to which one has better odds. hopefully, benign as these are the tumors that don't go on to kill. Malignant=BAD.

Do you mean WANT or GET? They are two quite different verbs.
