Deliverances from trouble are mercies indeed, when grounded upon the pardon of sin; we should therefore be more earnest in prayer for the removal of our sins than for the removal of afflictions

Still, the sins must be paid for by suffering God's discipline. (Heb 12:4-7) Once they have been paid for then and only then they can be said to have been removed.

David sinned seriously. He had to undergo years of suffering and discipline for his serious lapse of selfishness. Forgiveness was granted which was why God didn't remove him from being king or killed him! Nonetheless, there is no avoiding the punishment.

"Though he will not leave, wholly unpunished" (Num 14:28, Rotherham, NIV) "Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished."

While prayers like these are normal and common, it is more Christlike to pray prayers that are not so selfish. It is the more spiritually mature prayer to request guidance on how to handle the manifold problems we encounter in life. Removal of sin is all about recognizing the sin and being truly and honestly sorry for it and making a decision not to do it again. People come to know and accept God's forgiveness by the act of learning to unselfishly forgive others. As for removal of afflictions, there are many different responses and manifold things to consider when prayer leads a person to God for the answer. Much of affliction can be overcome by natural, or human means. Sometimes when praying for healing or the removal of some incurable affliction, there is no miracle to come - and that would be because God has a plan for that person after death. God's time is what we need to have faith in, and we must learn to love others the way Jesus loves us, and to recognize God is a loving Father. Becoming less and less selfishly concerned with ourselves is among the first things sons and daughters of God learn.

both - i pray for forgiveness for the offenses i committed. i ask God to be my eye so I will not go astray, be my mouth so I can speak with grace, be my mind so I can stay calm in his bosom. I also pray for deliverance if not help in times of trouble not only for myself but others as well.

Those who worship God for the hope of gaining , they're not real worshippers ,they're merchants. Those who worship God out of fear ( of punishment ) , they're slaves. And those who worship God to be grateful towards their creator , they are the free people , and their worship is a real one.
