Actually, atheism means only that a person cannot accept the concept of supernatural deities. Every atheist has their own slant on all the other details. Some do and some do not accept that there is a universal intelligent "energy." I suspect the vast majority of atheists don't believe in any such thing.
Personally, speaking only for myself, the Bible is totally irrelevant to my atheism. I know that the Bible was written by solipsists, for solipsists, and I know I cannot even force myself to think that way. The idea that my own subjective (perceptual) experience is any part of reality seems to me to be totally insane.
Your final speculation, that atheism is "belief in absolutely nothing that exists outside of humanity," couldn't be more in error. I am an atheist precisely because I know that the physical realm -- which exists totally outside of my "humanity" -- is the only objective reality in the universe. My own perceptions and thoughts are literally an entirely imaginary experience created within my entirely imaginary mind by my own completely real self-contained living brain. Nothing I think or feel can directly effect real (physical) outcomes. God is simply a mental abstraction, a concept that is part of our culture, but is not -- and has never been -- an actual part of objective (physical) reality.

Well it's basically a fact that there's an energy from whence we all came, but I get the idea we might be using different definitions of energy.
And plenty of things exist outside of humanity. It's just that none of them are supernatural.

Atheist (n.)
1. Rejection of or non-belief in existence of any god or goddess
2. Rejection of the existence or idea of all supernatural forces
I am not an atheist, but the dictionary definition seems to say that atheists believe "you are an accident of nature and when you're dead, you're dead".

Dude. The whole basis of religion is " be good or else"
Religion is made by man for man, and as such has one of two objectives.
1. keep the peace. ( That failed big time)
2. Make money.
Whatever idea any religion sprang from, the original concept was lost long ago. Be it through translation , interpretation , greed or manipulation.
I think if god does exist, He would be appalled at was is done in his name. And if he is as benevolent as some here are lead to believe, or tell us that this is so..... Then we will all go to hell.

My philosophical position on the existence of supernatural beings is that none have been demonstrated to exist, and until that happens I do not have the necessity of believing any of them to exist. And when I say "none", I include all deities of all religions as well as the myths which were at one time religions.

This question implies that it is natural to believe in a suoernatural force from whence we all came. It is not. I simply see no evidence that would lead me to conclude there is such a force.

It is effectively impossible to know what Jesus thought about anything, given he didn't bother to write anything down himself. Everything we think we know about him comes from other people. Many of them had a particular barrow to push. I'd guess however, probably not. If Jesus thought of himself as a messiah, he probably would have thought of himself in terms of the jewish messiah, who most definately is not the son of god. Biblical references written later saying that he accepted his godly nature are almost certainly I think added in by the authors. The entire theology of christianity was developed after - long after generally - the death of jesus. The descent from god, virgin birth, doctrine of trinity - I'd guess jesus was utterly unaware of any of this stuff.

Atheism: Absence of belief in god(s).
Strong atheism: Gods do not (or cannot) exist.
Weak atheism: No belief in god.
Being an atheist does NOT automatically imply that you have no interest in studying or discussing religious beliefs. That would be akin to saying that an Egyptologist acutally believes in ancient Egyptian gods.
