Normally, about this time I'd be getting ready to go to the forum and platform meetings at the Ethical Society. But the people who usually give me a ride decided they weren't going today, and the one other person I called about a ride hasn't answered my voice-mail. I don't feel good about wasting the Society's taxi account to go when I'm really not in the mood anyway.
Fortunately, nobody is obligated to show up on any given Sunday unless they have made a commitment to be a part of the services. I am preparing a presentation for the end of October/beginning of November, but I try to limit my promises because I don't drive and the bus system is crap on Sundays.
As to why I am not in church, I'm an atheist, too. Is that reason enough? The Ethical Society is only a religion in the sense of being a non-profit spiritually-oriented organization for tax purposes and for protection under the First Amendment.

I sometimes go at 8:00, sometimes 9:00, sometimes 11:00.
Today I am going for the evening service at 5:30.
Perhaps you don't know that church does not last all day long. Those who attend Sunday School do stay longer, though, and some people attend Sunday School, a morning service, and they return in the evening. Not everyone does that, though.
Thanks for your kind concern. Have a great day!

Three reasons really.
1. I am getting ready to go to work.
2.If I were to want to observe the Sabbath I would have had to do that yesterday, since Saturday is the Sabbath regardless of any Christian belief that it's Sunday.Nothing like letting it be changed by a Pagan(Constantine)
3. I'm an Atheist and have better things to do.

Although I attend occasionally, and see nothing wrong with going to church everyday if that's your thing, but, my spirituality does not include my being in church because it's Sunday morning....Odd question, or are you looking emotional arguments?

The people in the church sure aren't in a happy or worshipping mood all the time.

Because I have yet to find a church that teaches the TRUTH of GOD'S WORD.... All those I've been to have too much false doctrine...
Matt 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
I could go on, but there's not enough room here...

My Sundays are for spending all day in my jim-jams with my husband and son, doing nothing but playing and eating. I don't need a bloke in a dress and a prayer book to tell me my life is being lived right.
