Poodles do not have pet dander. What type of animal you should buy is always better determined by the type of life you lead, and what you expect from your pet. Tiny poodles are great for people who have a smaller area for exercising the pet, and who like small pets. (mine have never been yappers or barkers, by the way). I have asthma, and poodles were great for me. My last poodle passed away at the great age of 16 years old.

Allergies are not caused by dog hair, but by dander, tiny particles of renewing dog (or cat) skin combined with their saliva (from licking themselves clean) in the air. I guess the bigger the dog, the faster the dander will accumulate (more skin surface), but in the end, small, large, hair, no hair, shedding, no shedding makes little difference. Guess you could install a high tech filtration system throughout your house and get whichever dog you want.

I agree with James B. Get a Shih Tzu. They are non-allergenic and make a wonderful pet. But they will need lots of love...but that's not hard to do!

Something with short fur that doesn't shed. My grandmother long ago had a cockapoo, and she was a very clean little dog as long as she wasn't suffering from dry skin.
