Yes , its called thinning. Im not sure how much it would cost though as it kinda depends on the salon.

Hi,
Hairdressers have something called "Thinning scissors"
They are shaped like scissors but the blades are different...
They look like this... http://www.petplanet.co.uk/shop_dev/assets/new_product_images/%5Cwahl%5Cwahl_thinning_scissors.jpg
And the hairdresser just runs the scissors throught your hair...
I have my hair thinned everytime i have it cut and dyed...
Its included in the price for having a trim...but if you just wanted it done without having any of your hair cut atall then it would probably be just as much as it would be to have a trim...
Hope ive helped :)

Well your hair might be come a little shorter but definitely not so short anyone would notice a length change. Just ask your hair dresser to layer or thin your hair! Good luck!

we can use thinning shears throughout the head, the only setback, is the shorter hairs will end up poking the ones on top of it , thus causing a fuller appearance in a few short weeks

by razor cutting, the length stays the same, but thins out the bulk
cost depends on salon/barber. local shop would be less than a High Street/main town salon, you could ask for a quote.

go to a really good salon, and, speak with the senior stylist or creative director. ask how your hair will work for "thinning scissors" - there is such a thing. it's what they use to make curls lighter. good luck.
