i sent a guy friend a message stating something about sex n we had been flirting for a but about 2 years and then he sent one back saying im not that kind of guy? then with a wink smiley and a kiss? what does that mean that itis his kind of thing?

he was flirting with you, don't lose hope, he'll sleep with you, but you might need to flirt a little more b/c i think he may think you're teasing him and "leading him on".
lay it on a bit thicker, you've been friends for a long time so it's time to show him that you can be more than that.
he does mean it, if he didn't say the smiley and wink i'd think otherwise but that shows he's playing around as well and you need to keep up the hints so he knows you're serious!

he is probably flirting with you - maybe because he doesnt want to seem overly interested in sex or this is his way of telling you her really likes you - as others have suggested, he could be saying it not to hurt your feelings with a wink and an 'x' or even bein sarcastic. regardless, send a flirty text back as it will solve all of these issues wether her was being flirty back or telling you the deal. Say something like 'so wot kinda guy r u :P' lol and see wot he says.

could be as one said, that he doesnt want to seem too perverse and yet flirty.or it could be he's setting a boundary with out breaking from being flirty.
thats the thing with flirty-ness, it doesnt work if you break the flow, but people still need to communicate likes and dislikes, and appearance of character. its all very playful at the same time.
there is one thing you can be certain of - he is being flirty.
