There have been wars since before recorded history. Wars are fought for all kinds of reasons. You cannot possibly get everyone on earth to think the same way.
If a war has to be fought, it has to be won, then peace follows.

I read once that it is used to destroy surplus capital. Otherwise, the surplus will gum up the system and choke the economy. If we don't destroy the surplus, people will have what they need, which means they won't have to work as hard. Makes for less taxes and less profits for the extremely wealthy.

Not sure if it makes any sense to me. I think there are some other factors; the U.S. military likes to stay in practise... if we go too many years without a war, none of the soldiers have any real experience and they begin to lose touch and get soft. We need an older generation who has been in the ****. Also we need to rotate our weapons stock. The bullets get old, the missiles get out of date. We build all this stuff here, so it's all American goods. Thats more taxes for ya. It's a great way to preoccupy the people while the rich are having a good time with little effort.

Apart from the private companies wars in South America, ie- removing democratic governments and installing their own, for purpose of "trade", It was not until 1942 when USA entered the WWII after the Pearl Harbour disaster, that the Unions and the Government realised that War meant Full Employment. This came after the depression and massive unemployment of the 1930´s, in U.S.of A. Since, War has flourished. How many Wars have been set up since then? And who started them? So-- How to stop Wars? Provide full employment in opposition to War. For a start, there is about a 100 years full time work to dispose of the 15.000 atomic weapons in the US arsenal. Plus the thousands of nukes in other countries. Use the factories that are released from production of all those WMD´s, to produce goods that benefit human beings. And negotiations to encourage Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, U.K, France, Germany, Australia, Korea, Spain, Canada, should provide enough work for millions. This can occur when the people take back the power of each country. There will be oppsition from those who profit from War. They must be persuaded to forego their petty luxuries.

The number of wars worldwide is actually falling over time. It's just that Bush and his merry band of neocons thought it would be a good idea to jam the nation's hand into the hornet nest of Iraq. Once that mistake is over, things will look better to casual observers. But people who follow the news know that many long-running conflicts have actually been reduced or resolved in recent years. For example:

-Nepal's Maoist insurgency was mostly ended by a power-sharing deal with the government.

-Angola's civil war ended in 2002 with the death of rebel leader Jonas Savimbi.

-The war in the southern Sudan mostly ended with the appointment of John Garang to a government post.

-The wars in Sierra Leone and Liberia have ended, and the UN is managing their transition back to peace with things like de-mining, disarming of factions, etc.

-The huge war in the DR Congo is now mostly limited to pockets of the far east, after a series of deals were struck over the years.

Among others.

Unless we all band together and every country makes it known that if anyone wars the entire world will move in and stop/ destroy those who war.

that under no circumstance's is it acceptable on any level. if this could be achieved then we would have true peace.

we don't need to fight any war that's the point no one understands. everything could be settled through the rule of law and arbitration, this only if all parties agree to abide. this could be done like i just stated

Get the West to stop meddling in others business you will see steady decline in conflicts over the world. It is the greed of arms manufacturers that causes the wars they go round supporting different factions and sometime both sides in order to sell arms. Stop anyone from manufactoring the arms and selling them on . You will be amazed ther are no more big conflicts in the world.

The only way to stop humans from killing each other is to kill all the humans on the planet.

Look at human history, there is almost no times that there wasn't warfare.

We are a war-like race. It's what we are.

Seems to me that religion is the cause of most wars. Then territory disputes. Then people against the government. Know war know peace - No war no peace

We can't stop war till you make the penalty so terrible for waging one that no one ever has the will to wage another. And most of us are not willing to take these kinds of actions.
