Is it safe for my church to preach the Word of God in Mexico?

I live in southern Texas, and we are constantly hearing Evangelical Christians in Mexico are Increasingly being Persecuted by Roman Catholics and indigenous groups.
I know you don't hear it In American News that much.
Since i live in a city along the Border we can see some Mexican channels on our TVs and the Mexican News Reports mention this "prosecution" that is going on.

Our church has plans to go to San Luis Potosi and preach there as well as help the local people there by giving them food and clothes.
Is it really safe to go and preach there?
Do you have any information i can use?

I have not heard that Catholics were persecuting other Christian missionaries. This would definitely be against the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.

Many churches go to Mexico and preach and help the poor.

If not, then would it not be more logical to preach in your own less Christian neighborhood first?
