I've been told that the word "Holocaust" is a Greek word meaning "burnt offering." This is a grisly thing to say, but perhaps the aroma from burnt bodies was a more acceptable sacrifice than Jesus was. Many Jews call it HaShoah instead -- the catastrophe.

On 2nd thought, a HUMAN sacrifice Has NEVER been an acceptable sacrifice!

Jesus died to pay for our sins. If he hadn't done that we wouldn't get the opportunity to go to heaven.
Back then Crucifixion was considered to be death by torture.
