Wow... welcome back. Haven't seen you around in a LONG time.
I'm not sure I'd call most of my feelings "hopeful"... but I face reality with the realization that I'm responsible for what I say, what I do and how I deal with myself.
My son makes me happy. Not always content (all parents out there know what I mean) but certainly happier than I've ever been. I think all the beauty in the world shines through his every smile, his every laugh.

Reflecting upon all those times in my life and the lives of others where there was no reason other than Divine intervention to so move (a person's heart or a situation) events. Reading the word and being utterly sure the particular passage was for (me then and now) all men without chronological discrimination. The answer to prayer. The understanding that the answer to prayer is not necessarily what we would have wanted but it is what is best for us. The assurance that Christ rose from the dead and will appear at the end of the world. The knowledge that the more we know God loves us, the better we can freely love others.

My faith gives me hope that there is something more, bigger, better for all of us on the eternal scale. It doesn't really make me fell any better about the suffering I see in the world, but it does give me hope that it is not meaningless.
