After they have told a string of subsequently disproved lies about the MCCanns so called” involvement ?”

"The result has been endless column inches slandering the McCanns. ''Some Portuguese journalists were fairly convinced the so-called evidence passed on to them by police was nowhere near as concrete as their sources suggested," says Jose Lugios, a freelance reporter based in the Algarve."

The leaks did come from the police, the DNA , "Body may have been buried at sea so blame the McCanns" was a POLICE leak and leaked in such a way to infer the McCanns were "under suspicion" for it.
The DNA was utter nonsense and the police are responsable for this leak too.

Notice the police put massive pressure on the McCanns with so called leaks which were ALL shown to be lies. Then they subjected the McCanns to 8 hour presssure interviews, offering a light sentence . Rich isn't it, offering a light sentence to innocent people?

freethinker, you are right I am a bit quick off the mark, in fact when I thought of this question I was simply jokingly copying the Portuguese police spin tactics. I must say I am annoyed at them though, pretending to have evidence -- then leaking this "evidence" to the media and the internet hyenas just to scare people . Then to cap it all before the "evidence" is shown to be cr@p they subject the McCanns to 8 hour militarily style "interviews". After all that they simply admit it was all a trick and we are supposed to forget it. Just wait until the UK lawyers get their hands on this.

LOL They deserve that question after all of the suspicion they have put on innocent people simply as a police "tactic" to get a "confession"

You are right the Portuguese police have put out a string of lies and admitted they were lies almost the next day.Not offering an explanation as to why for example the DNA was put out as being evidence, when they must have known it was not is a de facto admission that it was a porky pie.

I think you may have jumped the gun slightly, but I don't think you are on the wrong track. I wonder if their dogged determination and eagerness to find the McCanns guilty was, in part, fear that once the Pandora's box of their methodology starts being investigated, cases such as Joana Cipriano and who knows how many others will come under the spotlight and be re investigated . If they have elicited confessions by violence and torture, many heads would roll. We will have to wait and see, but to me it looks as if it is panning out that way.

I think you have it backwards, it should be when will the McCanns be cleared of suuspicion? The Portuguese are in charge of the investigation not the McCanns, it happened in their juris prudence not the other way around. The famil are always suspect with this type of investigation, look at the case in Denver, Co the case has never been solved to this date and even now, the investigation continues.

They are a police force - they aren't under any suspicion apart from maybe that of the small minded British public for daring to question the media darlings that are the McCanns.

I think the number of leaks coming from the McCann camp far outweighs the police ones.

It wouldn't surprise anybody if the police played some part in it. There's a lot of money to be made by selling children.

But the police are supposed to be the goodies - and we all want to hope that they are.

Have you ever stopped to think that its the British Press that is telling the lies!

The Portuguese police have said very little, they have continued to keep details of the investigation quiet.

But as usual the British tabloid press have exaggerated every detail and every move made during this investigation!
