I am a 22-year old undergraduate student. Recently, my mum asked me to go swimming on a daily basis. However, I told her I can only go swimming 2 times a week, mostly. I say I need to attend school on weekdays and work part-time every day. I don't have so much time. But she yelled at me " I don't accept this and you are full of sin. " Then, she said when I'm at the age of five, I did something wrong. She compained from the age of 5 to 22, evry year. I said I am an accouting student so studying accoutning is my main job, not swimming, She said I didn't respect her. She said " Chris, when I see you everyday , you must let me see you studying, gone to canoeing, swimming or working part-time. Last time I saw you watching TV. " I said " Come on. I have my own time schedule.and I only watch TV for half an hour every day. Still unreasonable ? " She replied ' If you don't obey to me I'll stop sponsoring 50% of your school fee ( p.s. I paid another 50% of it by part-time, barely enough " )

That's why I am looking forward to my graduation day ( in 2010 ). Then I don't need to depend on her 50% sponsorship of my school fees . Then I will be fee.
Do you think my mum use " sponsorship/ money " to threaten me ?

It's sort of wierd that she is trying to force you to go swimming everyday of all things. Why swimming? Seems like she's trying to threaten you with her half of your school fee. Just tell her that you have more important things to do that pertain to school. Try to compromise with her. You are 22 and have your own life, what does swimming have to do with it? Your mother should be glad you are furthering your education, not threatening to ruin it.

Is it possible for you to get student loans to pay your own way through college? Your mom sounds unreasonable, but as long as she is paying for you, you need to do what she says. It sounds like you are probably a pretty responsible person, and will probably do quite well on your own. Don't know where you live, but here in the US there are student assistant organizations that you can contact thru the college to help you find funding, both scholarships and loans. That is pretty demeaning of your mom to try to control you that way at your age. Good luck.

I would look for ways to finance your own education, loans, grants scholarships--whatever it would take. Your Mom is controlling you and trying to fill you full of guilt. You are 22 and an adult. While you should try to make some time for mom, it sounds as if she wants all of your attention.
