He should have gotten time... I do remember that. Although none of us were at the scene. I still think if they are basing the trial and charges just on that video... the cop should have been jailed.

Ok this is a case of 3 morons. Moron #1 was the driver of the Corvette. #2 was the airman who despite being trained as a military police officer chose to hang out with friends he knew had little respect for the law when he was home on leave. #3 was the deputy who disregarded protocols and did not wait for back up.

Did carrion deserve to be shot , No. Could the officer have perceived him as a threat, hell yes. Three timed fire shots is not panic. Adrenaline probably affected the officers decision making process.

I was not present and have not seen the video so i do not have a clue what the officer was thinking or how the airman was behaving. Their is plenty of room for reasonable doubt when dealing with a case like this.

It would be very nice if some of the young serviceman would use this as a lesson learned about the lifestyles they choose to live once they are in service. Especially in law enforcement. One cannot be on the side of the law at work and breaking the law on their down time.

Stepping off my soap box.

Listen closely to the audio, the Air Force cop identified himself as a military cop right before being told to get up, and then was shot by a brother officer.

The Air Force cop did nothing wrong, he wasn't the driver, he followed the orders of the civilian cop, and was shot for it.

NOTE to nonldsinutah:
The driver wasn't shot, the AF cop who was in the passenger seat was shot.

Hmmm... moron gets in high speed attempt to evade police and screw the safety of anyone on the side streets, gets some lead thrown his way and cries about it.
I am pretty sure the blogger is a wee bit biased as he calls the cop pig, etc. Who knows how much of what he threw into the blog is even true?
Oh well, let's jump to conclusions since none of us were there, the cop must've done something wrong cause he's the man.
Dionannan should know, she has obviously spent time in combat and as a cop to throw out donut eating, power hungry, etc. cliche's... Sad to see how quick she judges.

I remember the story and seeing the tape. Maybe the cop over reacted maybe he did not. Since none of us were there it is easy to criticize but I am more inclined to side with the cop here. He was alone and was dealing with a very stressful situation.
However, taking your libido extender (Corvette) and speeding at 120 MPH through a neighborhood is incredibly irresponsible, stupid, careless, dangerous, etc., etc and the driver deserves all the bad things that happen to him. Including getting shot.

"I'm on Your side"

Who's side was he on during the 100mph car chase?

These things are not always clear and I don't think that because the Airman had been to Iraq we should assume he wasn't a danger to the officer.
