Absolutely because if we can't forgive people how can God forgive us. That would be one thing that would keep us away from him. Is it easy to forgive.........there have been times in my life that it took me years to do but thank God he helped me along with a wonderful best friend.

Yes! I feel it is vital. Not only initially when someone gets saved but on an ongoing basis. People wrong us and our response must be forgiveness regardless of the wrong---This can be very difficult but with God all things are possible. The reason it is so hard is because we try to forgive in and of ourselves, we must forgive "with God" because without Him and His help we cannot naturally and completely forgive.
I am in no way implying that we should be a rug and let people walk on us...use good judgement! Occasionally things need to be dealt with other ways but still forgive.

Heaven is the residence of God a place in which Creator and creature will be able to live side-by-side. This is a place where not even our wildest imagination can conjure up. It is a place where everyone can be a citizen and live in it for eternity, however, there is only one requirement in order to be allowed into its realm. The requirement is that we be perfect and without any sin. Now being a human being we all know that this requirement is impossible for us to attain. So what do we do? where is our hope? how can we become a part of it? ENTER JESUS. Jesus was sent in order to live this perfect and sinless life, and He lived it unto death. So how does Jesus living a sinless and perfect life relate to our inability to accomplish this? Well, God said that if we believe that Jesus died in our place and lived the life that we can never live and took upon Himself our sins and our imperfections, that we will be seen in His eyes as the perfect and sinless creatures we need to be in order to enter His kingdom. So by accepting Jesus' sacrifice and by asking God to forgive us for committing those acts that make us fall short of His standards, we will be able to become citizens of heaven. Not because we earned it but because we decided to lay all our trust on the One who did (Jesus). We will be a part of this wonderful and amazing world.

Absolutely.
AND we're guaranteed God's forgiveness in the covenant of the New Testament (salvation of the eternal soul thru His Son, Jesus).

Yes and unconditionally as he forgives us..*
Mathew 6:14
"If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
I know how humanly difficult this can be, sometimes, so Just pray and ask Him to help you forgive the person or individual ones.
Bless you for asking.*

Jesus forgiving me is required for me to get to heaven, yes. because of what Jesus did, no one can enter heaven without the grace/forgiveness of Jesus. forgiving others is more beneficial to me than to the person i am forgiving. if i do not forgive, i bind myself, leading to spiritual baggage and/or rooting grounds for other undisciplined thoughts/actions.

I think that my own understanding of my wrongs and the self forgiveness , as well as making the proper amends is all that is required.
And stop doing whatever behavior it is that you feel you need to be forgiven for.
Regardless of religious beliefs, or spiritual tradition, it is my belief that all that the mysterious divine entity most commonly referred to as "God" just wants me to do the next right thing and live in the best way that i know how. That is all that is required to please "God", as you put it.
i hope you find what it is you are seeking.

Don't know. That's my answer. I don't believe in heaven.
What if a priest (another one) molests a young boy and the boy shuns religion (for obvious reasons) and the priest asks for forgiveness, does the priest go to heaven? Does the boy if he no longer has Jesus because it was raped from him?
I believe the rules say that the priest wins.

11 If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you.

But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.
I think so. so does Matthew (6)
