The story of Lot's wife is an allegory that is used to explain the salt flats near the Dead Sea. If the story is in any way true, the likely occurrence is that Lot killed his wife. The truth remains, that she was never turned into salt, either iodized or non. If you read on in that story, you'll see that his own two daughters later raped him after getting him drunk in a poor attempt to get pregnant.

I always wonder if questions like this are real. Lot’s wife was turned into a “pillar of salt.”
Iodized salt is normal salt (NaCL) processed with iodine added as a supplement to prevent iodine deficiencies. The addition of iodine to salt did not come about in North America until the 20th century. Iodine was first discovered in the 19th century.
Natural sea salt, such as is found in the Dead Sea will contain iodine as a trace element, but is not considered “iodized salt” because iodine has not been added.
A better question might be, what kind of salt do you think Lot’s wife was turned into? Sodium Chloride? Potassium Chloride? Magnesium Chloride? Any other kind of salt?
Even better would be to consider whether salt is a metaphor in that she “looked back” and lost per perspective and never forgave god for the destruction of her city? Maybe she looked back and “her heart turned cold” or “she became biter with anger” or “her eyes from that day forth burned with the salt of her tears.”

Considering where the event took place basically out in the middle of a desert it it highly improbable that it was iodized. For that you need see water or a source of iodine. Not to be found in the geology of the area.

Does it matter ? I would say iodized. It is also commonly known as Table salt. IT is more natural and if God where to turn anyone into salt, it would be refined and simple, closer to nature.

I like the first answer for insight, but since seaweeds have iodine and therefore seasalt has iodine and whatever salt she was turned into was identical to salt around, she must have been iodized salt.

LOL! Well, "obviously" she was turned into an iodized salt pillar, because God certainly wouldn't have wanted people in the cities he was destroying getting goiters.

A sulphur based compound. There really was a volcanic incident in this area where superheated oil squirted into the air, from below the earth's surface. This oil took sub strata sulphur with it. The oil burst into flame on reaching the surface. The fire (from the oil) and brimstone (sulphur) then fell to the earth's surface. She probably got hit with a massive block of brimstone.
The question is very droll ! Appropriate with your name?

yep the cities of Sodom and gamora were nuked with atomic weapons. in the middle east they have found man made radiation that is deep in the ground and in the far desert that has been there for 2-3 billion years. when a carbon based life form is hit with a direct blast of atomic radiation in the form of a bomb they will evaporate and leave only salt deposits.

What does that matter ? She looked back after being Instructed not to do so. The reason she did was: She longed for what she was unwilling to walk away from. God knew what was In her heart. She loved sin and pleasure more than God.
