Hey
I don't really know what to do with myself. I'm 25, intelligent (MA English) healthy, got a nice long term boy who loves me, pretty, average weight, fairly nice upbringing. Great lifestyle, great job.
BUT
I've always hated the way I look. I've been dieting since age 10 because my mother was obsessed about her weight too. I started 3 day fasts at 12years old. I started self harming at 9-10years old for attention, I think. The self harm stopped (cutting anyway) with my boyfriends help 4years ago.
I've pulled my hair out since I was 11years old..not to so bad that Im balding, but it's apretty bad tick. Not always pulling but touching my head all the time especially when Im bored or unoccupied/nervous.
My lifestyle is very very active, 3-4hours exercise a day and usually very healthy, but still trying to lose weight all the time. Sometimes 3days fasting, sometimes very low calorie days, sometimes eating too large(but healthy)meal and purging.
Im a nightmare! Help.

sounds like u need to see a mental health professional
these are not normal behaviors
and they are combined- generally people have one or maybe 2 but not several at a time

See a shrink/therapist. Hey, even talk to your bf when you get these urges. At the very least, try to understand why you do this to yourself. Find a self-help book about people who do these kinds of things. Maybe there is a support group in your area. Talk to your preacher or priest if you go to church. Basically, talk to someone face to face, someone that you can trust, that you can cry with and that will cry with you. You don't sound like a bad person, but rather someone who has everything going for her, but your missing something. It's good that your reaching out. It's a step in the right direction.

Honey, you are what you are... To tell tell you the truth i use to do the same, but i am skinny ,long face etc.... I think if we all look at our selves in the mirror we all have something we like and don't like. Why do you think that so many women go to plastic surgery as their last option.. but hell no i would never.. Because i am strong.. and you should look at your self as a Strong female as well... I know i cant help you that much, but all i can say is BE STRONG TO YOU. Maybe there are some books you like to read that fits your description. Try to keep your self occupied and take away your negative thoughts... You are Beautiful..

You need to seek Professional help!
I mean sometimes is hard to realize the things we do to ourselves, we don't want to face reality.
Sometimes we know there are things wrong but we do other things to avoid realizing the truth, we tend to make excuses for everything wrong that we do. The excuses help to cover what is infront of our faces.
Your mother has not been a great role model, since she got you to be so concerned about your weight, I believe there are many issues you need to deal with and prof. help is the best thing you can reach for, yes, you might not like it but if is something that will allow you to live a healthy and better life why not take it!
I'm sure your a great! girl everyones has issues, problems to deal with and realizing that you need help is the first step.
Take care

the best way to lose weight is having consistency. When you fast your body starts to go into panic mode and dips into its fat stores, so when you do eat again, it stores as much fat as it can in case it happens again. If you have low calorie days you are more likely to over eat.
You need to eat the right amount of calories for your height and weight and be consistent with it.
Eating small meals will stop you from over eating and punishing your body by throwing up.
Go to www.calorieking.com.au or www.calorieking.com and join. Its free and it will keep you on track with your diet and exercise. Maybe if you have something else to focus on, your anxiety will decrease.
Just check it out. It has worked for me.
Good luck

girl, i am in the same position as you. i hate the way i look and want to know how to get past it as well. society is really screwing with females these days (i dont know if that is part of the reason you feel that way but i know it is for me...partly) i wish i had an answer for you because i know first hand how awful these feelings are and how damaging excessive dieting and over exercising can be to your body. just please be careful and dont harm yourself past the point of no return. i wish you luck. :-)

I just found out that my baby sis (13 yrs) is using diet pills and is bulemic. The first step, which you have conquered is admitting there is a problem, next step, i advise you as a nurse, is to talk to your physician, they will help, and refer you to the appropriate organizations that can help you. Please stay healthy, and please don't fast, it does way more harm than good.
