"Mr _ _ _ _ _ _...please tear down this wall" speech someday in the future? I just think that building a wall is a waste of money and it sends the wrong message. Why not spend that money on more technology to reduce illegal immigration? A wall would be like saying..."we don't want anyone here...we don't care if you are illegal or legal...stay out of our country!"...Another reason why I think building a wall would be a dumb idea is because it contradicts the plans for the so-called "North American Union"...and "NAFTA Super highway" that both neocons and neoliberals support.

The wall is a joke. The guy who is in charge of it has the sole decision of where to allocate the money and he is putting it all into other things. Listen to Glen Beck on the radio. His talk show aired a live interview with the guy in charge and he is a real joke.

Ummmm...a wall does not send a message to people entering a country legally. THESE people use ROADS and normal LEGAL checkpoints.

We have a right to secure our borders any way we need to. All countries have immigration laws and all countries enforce them.

To those with the "ladder theory"...you are assuming erroneously that it's a simple wall. There will be electronics involved where necessary, and additional deterrents that I won't go into detail about...the wall would be extremely effective against the vast majority of those attempting to breach our border. Opponents to the wall realize this, that's why they are so adamantly opposed to it. The great expense in building the wall would be recouped in savings from illegal aliens NOT sucking off our social services and our nation.

With THAT being said, most of us are sitting here twiddling our thumbs asking "WHEN is the fence going to be built"??

It would if it were intended to be another Berlin wall, the big difference here is that our wall is only to stop illegal entries, not to put anyone in a cage. Immigration will still be allowed, but you should forget about coming here without filing some paperwork and paying a visit to a doctor. We don't want your drugs, we don't want your bums and we don't want your aspiring welfare moms having more kids then they can afford as if the human race were on the extinction list.

As for the plans for the NAU and NAFTA, who the heck even wanted it? I'll tell you, a few politicians in office saddled us with it even though we didn't want it, and we STILL don't want it. If there is any justice at all in this world in 2008 it will be struck down.

Fact.I do not support NAFTA or the North American Union.

Fact. the Berlin wall was built to keep people IN

Fact. the wall you talk of would be built to keep people OUT

Fact. that wall you speak of would not cost billions

Build two walls and put a mine Field between the two. Come in legally or not at all.

A wall will maybe make it a little harder for anyone to cross the border illegally, but they're already tunnelling under ground...Still building a wall is better than doing nothing...

Well this proposed wall is to keep other people out, not to keep our own people in, as was the purpose of the Berlin Wall. the United States still enjoys a very healthy trade relation with Mexico, but the nation does not want to support waves of illegal immagrents. the United States is still happy to take legal immagrents (although that process is becoming more difficult).
However I will agree that a wall is probably not the most cost effective or most effective method of border control.

The wall would have gates to welcome those who come legally, and the wall is technology to reduce illegal immigration, simple technology true, but technology none the less.

I agree it's a waste of tax payers money.Especially if they decide to further plans of the NAU.People need to start waking up to this and quit thinking it's a conspiracy theory. It's not it's very real.Fighting this should be a cause for ALL citizens. Our Nation is in jeopardy.Read up on : SPP...NAFTA...NAU...We need to be informed so we make good choices on what is the true threat here.

Let them build their" Great Wall of Ignorance." Mexico is better off getting into a South American Free Trade Agreement and sell their oil to Japan and China. The North American Union is a bad idea, and will not happen.
Who needs America, They do not realize how few friends they have left in the world.

Build a twenty foot wall and you will make rich all the ladder producers in Mexico. That is if illegals don't just blow a hole in it with dynamite.
