You will get notified about the fact you had insufficient funds and the check was returned. They will ask for payment (In cash) for that check and any fees imposed upon them by the bank etc. If you pay them no problem if you cannot come up with the whole amount talk to them and arrange payments, or yes there can be a warrant put out for your arrest, and that adds court costs etc. You will also have an overdraft fee from your bank most likely which will also have to be covered. Get overdraft protection from your bank although the fees are high, they are worth it in the event you make a mistake like forgetting to log some of your debit card purchases.

It depends on who you write it to and for how much. Some recipients will just call you and give you a couple days to pay it off. Others will turn it over to the police, and you can be prosecuted. You usually won't go to jail unless you do this multiple times.

If you write a bad check with an account that has been closed .You will go to jail.
If it's not a closed account I think your safe,but yes you do got to pay it back.
But I highly recommend that you don,t write a bad check.

Yeah sure..write a bad check...then you will NEVER be able to get credit ever again..NEVER buy a car, rent, etc...
NO..don't write a bad check .. and to answer your question YES, it's a CRIME to write a bad check!
