See it doesn't always matter with guys, but when a girl is fat... like me... people find it disgusting. There are different rules for fat girls--no eating in public, even if it's something healthy, and if a fat girl looks like she's trying to lose weight it's still bad.

1. Believe me, i'm fat. 215 lbs. 5'4".
2. I'm learning to live with myself, but that hasn't gotten me what i want.
3. We pretend that plus-size models are amazing, but look at people like kirstie allie--they try to wear something a normal sexy girl would wear, and are attacked for it. The second kirstie gained weight again (or rather, looked like she'd gained weight), the tabloids were on her like a pack of ravening wolves. You hear about all these hollywood girls going anorexic or bulemic, why? Because our society has such a stigma on fat. No matter how many times you say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
4. Guys won't naturally give a fat girl a second look. They have to be forced into prolonged contact in order to get to know the girl.
5. This has to be a generational problem. How many older men have i had compliment me on my smile or tell me i'm pretty and if they were younger they'd hit on me?

Just because you pretend you don't care what people think doesn't mean you actually don't. Everyone cares.

we're all brainwashed to a degree (my opinion)

but because food ultimitely controls weight, people are forced to balance getting enough, and at the same time, not too much...

that is hard. it is not like you can STOP eating

we all know it would kill us

under that train of thought, skinny people are viewed as people who are "in control" of their impulses. fat people are stereotyped as "lazy"

you often hear people (speaking of fat people) say "he let himself go"

if you are too skinny on the other hand, you are labled anorexic.

the problem is there is no such thing as perfection. a perfect body never exists. one group of people would disagree completely with another.

idk.... its very complicated
people have very different definitions of beauty

Hi,

I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at http://www.better-life-thinner.us where they have a free trial and you only pay $6.95 shipping and handling.
Good luck!

It's not bad, I used to be fat, I actually weighed 187 lb and now I'm around 127.
It's not disgusting, I found out that most guys don't think like that but they're so stereotyped that most of them reject girls like that because that's how society works.
Believe me, be self confident, try and make yourself feel better and that is stronger than looks, it will be difficult, yes, but if you want to make a difference then get on it! Believe me! You can do it! I did!

I totally agree. Being a fat girl myself, I have also faced public ridicule; in what I wear (am I 'tucked in' so nothing shows?), what I eat (is it too much?), how I walk (no earthquake jokes please), even how I sit (always sit with legs crossed because it will take up less space). I always feel both ignored and in the spotlight because of my weight. I just want to be in the spotlight because I am beautiful and thin, not ugly and fat.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year, apparently I had it since I was 9, which caused me to gain weight. But I am currently losing weight (30 lbs down so far) so I can be 'more acceptable' and be healthier, maybe even get a date. I hate the way my body looks now, but I am hoping that will change when I finally get to my goal weight.

It is very hard to love your body when the media has been telling you that you are only lovable if you are thin. Guys grew up in the age of Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, etc. so any girl without a flat stomach, big boobs and small butt is rejected. I am finding that American men are shallow and unaccepting of any other body type. I have dated international men and many of them find me attractive. Unfortunately, I dont have many opportunities to meet men from other countries so I am stuck in the American dating pool, where I have to fit into a bikini to jump in.
But until society changes its views on whats beautiful, we are stuck with the thin fad.

I doubt you're "fat". Even overweight doesn't really matter. Those are rules that we create for ourselves, because we assume what people are thinking about us in a bad way. This is all part of self-image and being confident. Be confident!

If society does feel that way in some areas, then they are shallow and stupid! If fat is so unnatractive, then why are plus-size supermodels so loved?!

Stay confident and don't worry!

while it may seem like a double standard it has more to do with genetics than with personal preference.

study has shown that on average men look for physical beauty when choosing a mate. most are stimulated by the physical appearance of a woman. while women on average look for a mate that is a good provider and will be good as a father so the looks and physical attraction is not a priority.

some also believe that men who favor women that are very thin (Minny McSkiny) and with out curves are latent homosexuals.

Stick to a program, no matter what you think others are thinking. My daughter and I both lost weight and we're still losing. (she's 19) I've lost 15 lbs in three weeks and she's lost about 40, and she did it in about three months. (www.moreenergyforyouonline.com) We eat healthy and stick to it every day. With light exercise too, you'll lose weight!! I look at the difference that it brought about to her especially, she's much more outgoing and she loves to shop for clothes now. Take care of yourself, it's never too late !!
Good Luck!

first of all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as corny and cliche as that sounds.

and if that's really how you feel about yourself, that's how other people are going to feel about you as well. no one is going to love you if you don't love yourself first. "big" is and can be beautiful. and besides, who really cares what other people think about you anyway?

we live in a society where thin is in, so you can either join 'em.. and sit here and feel sorry for yourself.. or beat 'em, by getting healthy, exercising, and making a lifestyle change for yourself. and to prove to yourself (cause you're all that matters) that you ARE attractive.

people seem to associate being fat with being lazy and over eating which is garbage but how are you going to change the world when the mags are full of skinny sticks with fake boobs?
