(Please bear with me, fellow atheists. I'm asking from a Christian perspective.)

If, after 6,000 years *cough* God STILL hasn't forgiven Eve - as evidenced by the fact that the entire world is still suffering from her sin - what could possibly make anyone at all think that God will forgive anything or anyone? If he can't forgive a lady for eating a piece of fruit 2,000 years ago, is he even capable of forgiveness?

No, you're asking from an atheist perspective, and this is not a legitimate question. (The cough's not nearly as clever as you obviously think it is. And neither are you, or you'd know that not all Christians believe the world is only 6,000 years old, and also that the garden of eden episode happened a lot longer than 2,000 years ago.)

Let me ask you one - and this really is from a Christian perspective - is it that atheists are just mentally lazy, or is there some other reason that they come on here asking questions they could answer themselves if they just opened a Bible?

From a Christian perspective, then: it's not that God can't forgive MANKIND, it's that mankind turned away from God a long time ago. God the Father can't look on sin, so another way had to be found to let us come back to God. That's where Jesus Christ comes in, He attoned for the sins of the world and now God can welcome us back.

Does that about do it for you, or do you need me to type slower?

God has forgiven a long time ago. He forgives us, but we might still have to pay for the consequences. Sin is when your heart separates from God's will for us. God forgives.

I ask the same type of questions, too. Why is there so much pain & suffering if God is supposed to be forgiving and compassionate toward his people?? I've come to the conclusion that all the world's religion, YES EVEN CHRISTIANITY, are just a form of mind control for the Illuminati agenda. Read the Christ Conspiracy by Acharya S.

That is not the Biblical position so I'm not sure which worldview you are debating here.

Eve was forgiven. However the effects of that sin are still being carried out, and will be until Christ returns to restore a new heavens and new earth (Revelations) as it says in the Bible.

If you are a parent, you can forgive your child yet the effects of their disobedience may carry on for a long time.

the god of the old testament was not a very forgiving guy. it never says (that i can remember) that eve was forgiven.

the whole thing never made any sense to me, and i was a christian once upon a time.

bright blessings to you.

what gives you the idea that Eve was not forgiven? If she asked God, He forgave her, because God is not just holy and righteous, He is merciful. We are not suffering from her sin, we suffer from our own. I am not dying in Eve's sin- I am dying in my own- however I am alive in Christ, due to the fact that He died for my sin. God is capable of forgiveness, He has given us a way of escape through the painful death of Christ.

Oh my.

Dear one, Even did not eat a piece of fruit. She partook of Satan. He was the bad fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Then she led Him to Adam, and he also took of the same fruit. (They had relations with him)

Christ while in the tomb, went all the way back to the days' of Noah to preach as to give all a chance for repentence. May I respectfully ask you, how can you know God didn't forgive Eve. He forgave all that ask for repentence, even back to the time of Adam and Eve.

It's more like 60,000 years, Penguin. A drop in the bucket of Eternity, love, although I understood it as being a "rescue" mission of sorts rather than a grudge match, but yes, there it is: I shall set my enmity...hang on a tic, I'll go look it up... er by the way, you do realize that when you divide any length of time by eternity, you get a number that practically sits upon itself. For instance, Eve happened just as I was born, so to speak. It is THAT relative...by the end of my life, I will have encompassed the entire human history from beginning to end. I believe all time happens at once. Earth may only be a platform.

No kidding--maybe he didn't get enough human blood for eve? maybe if Jesus hadn't wimped out after only 3 days in hell, eve could have been forgiven too?
