My oldest cat is about 5 or 6 now, and he has become more vocal with age, and demanding!! If I'm on the computer he comes up behind me with his huge paws and he taps me on the back until I respond, when I do he follows by yelling at me, or sometimes he just sits in the middle of the floor staring at me and yelling at me, he does it, when he wants attention, food, treats, and if I don't give him the right thing he continues to yell and thumps his tail and squints his eyes...He also takes my chair when I get up, Not only that, but he has started waking me up in the mornings, I don't hear my alarm clock, which is usual, but now he has started coming and tapping me on the head, It's become a routine, he taps, II hit the snooze, plop him down and wrap my arm around him and we go back to sleep together, he usually doesn't like my arm around him, but he goes right to sleep, and he'll only do it when he wakes me up, not if I wake up first and go get him...he's so funny..

Mine does, sweet little meows when he wants out, yeowls for food, I just wish he would pronounce his words better!
He is currently sitting on my lap. Have you figgured out how to type without disturbing your cat?
I had to laugh when I read your alarm clock story. My old cat (RIP) used to sleep on the top of the headboard and when the alarm would go off, he would jump on the middle of my stomach! It was like getting hit when you are all relaxed and sleeping! Even after he was gone for a few years, when I heard the alarm I would curl up to protect my stomach.
Gotta love them!

Whiskers likes to play the piano in the mornings. If that doesn't get your attention then his screaming and pawing at the door does. I even, once, tried throwing him out the night before, he woke me by thumping his head on the glass.

I remember a few months ago it was five in the morning and all I wanted was to sleep, so I thought I'd ignore his meowing, he continued right until seven AM. I could barely stay awake at school and will probably never ignore him again.

My cat has a tendency to jump up on my bed when I am getting ready for work in the mornings and meow at me incessantly. I know she will keep meowing whether I acknowledge her or not but I usually will pretend to be having a conversation with her. It's funny. It usually goes like this:

Meow.

What?

Meow.

No way!

Meow.

Really?

Meow.

Oh my god. I don't believe you.

Meow!

You're lying.

lol.. obviously I pretend she's saying something totally unbelievable. Sometimes she seems to get annoyed that I am just talking back to her. I never can tell what it is she wants.. she has food, water, clean box, etc.. I can only figure that she wants attention and she knows I am getting ready to leave.

Its entertaining though. One of the many reasons I love my cat! :-)

Yes, he does! He is very vocal but not in the yeowling way. He actually does this sound that actually makes you think there is a question mark popping up above his head! Whenever he is scolded he apologizes and tries to look like he wasn't doing anything! Some mornings he comes in and wakes me up just so he can go to sleep, it is like he says his guard shift is over and it's my turn! I could go on for hours about this guy but my hands are getting tired of typing.

My cat Penny is very vocal. She loves to just chatter away about what I am assuming are her kitty adventures. She also becomes demanding if attention hasn't been given to her in a while. She has a nice sweet meow.

Richard is less outspoken, but he will sit next to you while you're on the phone and whack you with his tail as hard as he can until you hang up. Its like he knows you aren't talking to him and he isn't pleased.

My cat Smokeybear (female) is an inch away from being human. When I get into bed she meows saying to me, here I am. Move over to make room for me. When she 's hungry she say Meow and turns to where her food is and if I don't get up off the chair she keeps doing it until she gets what she wants.
I read somenwhere that cats have over 100 destinctive sounds.

Um, sort of. It's not really a meow persay..more of a "urr" sound. It's usually when I walk into the room. I think it's her way of saying "hello". Her favorite thing to do is squat down and as soon as I walk by, she swats me on the ankles (without her claws). That's her way of saying "Hey, come back and play with me". Then we'll play, she'll bite me and then lick me where she just bit me. It's so cute!

My oldest cat Soma wakes me up everyday by meowing and nudging me to get up and feed him. He don't quit until I am at his food dishes. Most of the time he still has food and water but god forbid that he sees the color of the bottom of one of his 2 bowls. He is so anal! The rest of the day he is quiet. My youngest cat Baby announces his presence when he approaches you. If I can't get him to respond to his name, all I have to do is to meow and he comes running in the room meowing his little heart out. It is so cute!

My cat is a joker. When I am working on my laptop computer, she would stay behind the screen and out comes 2 paws from behind to try to grab your hands. Maybe bec. I poke her from behind and pretend it wasn't me. Another is she open our sliding door to go and poop out there in the plants. This gives me more freedom to concentrate when I am working. When she is hungry and I have not given her any food in the morning, she lightly nips me in my hand like she wants to eat and I get the message and feed her. Then she stops and looks at me like saying thank you.
