When it comes to flea control, you get what you pay for.
The pet shop stuff is not worth taking home. Go to the vet and get either Front Line or Advantage. Follow the vet's instructions. This will take care of the problem quickly.

Do NOT buy over the counter flea products. Most of them can be harmful. I agree with the others that Frontline is the best way to go. It will prob cost you about 13-15 dollars for a dose. You do need to re apply that monthly while it is warm outside. Do not use a flea collar as they are toxic if eaten, and are not water proof. Not to mention that they smell awful!

Revolution protects against flea, tick, intestinal parasite, and (MOST important) heartworm infestations. Once a month, just part the dog's hair between the shoulders and squeeze it on, and done. Costs roughly $16 bucks a month for a big dog. Why would you buy a cheap pet-store brand?
The Revolution is an easy all-in-one preventative. Give it every month, and you don't have to worry about any of those nasties.

I agree with the others on those brands.. Also, get a flea and tick shampoo bath for your pup and then keep up with the protections.. Good Luck with your pup!

Do not ever give your dog, any human medication, unless a vet tells you to do so. You may give the wrong medicine and the wrong dose, and do serious harm to your dog or worse. It may have Kennel Cough. You need to take your dog to the vet as soon as you can, and have it examined. The vet, is the only one who can determine, what the problem is and how to treat it. This is not something you can wait on or cure yourself.

I use Frontline Plus. The best price I have found is at http://www.carealotpets.com/ $59.99 for a six month supply. Same stuff at the vet is $15.00 for one month. The cheap stuff has caused serious problems even death for pets.

I use Go Pet or Friskee's on my dogs because i can also use it on my cat. These i usually get as a drop to put on the back of their necks or as an all wormer paste that you have to feed to them. I am really stingy with money so they are pretty low budget. Another brand is St Bernards. This one is a flea powder and you just rub it on. It can get a bit messy though so you might want to do it outside

Inexpensive, none. The good ones u get from ur vet and they r not cheap but they really work and will not cause an allergic reaction as readily as OTC junk.
