The 3d U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard) is the oldest active infantry regiment in the army, having been first organized as the First American Regiment in 1784.
The 1st Infantry Division is the oldest continuously serving Division! The oldest is said to be the 28th Infantry Division (Mechanized), but they are not currently serving active, they are National Guard, then there is the oldest Mechanized and Yada. yada!

The 5th Frield Artillery Regiment is not quite as old as the Old Guard, but it is the only unit in the Army that has never been de-activated since 1775.
3rd Infantry is the oldest Regiment.
As for Divisions, its either the 1st Infantry that can trace its roots to the Civil War, but was not actually called 1ID at that time, or the 28th. This is because Divisions were not really formal organizations until around WWI. Before they were ad-hoc of regiments under a single command.
Today we are kind of going back to that system where a division is only a HQ and Brigades instead of regiments are plugged into the HQ.

I wish I knew the exact name of the unit but I can tell you it is a MA guard unit that dates its orgins all the way back to the 1600's. In fact as a whole the National Guard predates the active duty army by over a centuary.
Found your answer it is the 181st infantry which was stood up in 1636.

At this point I believe so. We are in a war on terror officially. Any country that does not take our concerns seriously, need a wake up call. Mexico is one of them. We have every right to militarize our border when we are being invaded. And we are being invaded. The invaders carry drugs, diseases and are by their very nature counter culture. They cost the US billiions of dollars in untold ways and they threaten the culture in general. They are also, outside of the law of this country by entering in the way they do. All that said, I'm sure many are nice people. I would ask the question, "if someone put a gun to your head and blew your brains out, would it matter to you if they were a nice person?" We ARE at war with these people and in a sense with Mexico and while it is not traditional, it is being fought for the same old things most wars are fought for. Power, control, money.
