he just started limping this afternoon,
and earlier i noticed he was actually
eating his food while he was lying down.

now he cant even get up at all,
and i saw him kinda drag himself to move.
he's just lying down right now.

what should we do?
i dont know of any vets open tomorrow(sunday)
and the nearest one is in another city.

he isnt exactly a tiny dog
(chocolate lab)
so he'd be pretty hard to carry.

Is he in pain? Whimpering? Look for swelling, and possibly an object lodged in the leg, such as, a splinter, thorn, toy.. etc.

if swelling or pain is apparent i would suggest taking him to an emergency animal shelter, this is why they're there! I would still call a vet and ask some questions first thing in the morning... they are more than helpful in situations like this one...
if you feel the need to administer pain relievers, try baby Tylenol(acetaminophen)... NOT IB PROFEN!

But i still recommend a visit the clinic and/or vet if it persists. Sometimes it can be as simple as a bruise (has he been playing roughly?) or may be something more serious (labs are prone to having bad hips)

hope i helped

Every vet has an emergency contact. He has to see a vet right away be it Sunday or whatever. If you can;t move him alone see if you can get someone to help. If not you will have to have an inhome visit. I know it's expensive as I have had to do it myself, but your dog is in real trouble.

Good luck. I'm praying for the little guy.

Even in the smallest of towns most vets have a emergency call number. I would try to call. If not get someone to help you carry your dog.
My dog had a hurt back and was eating the same way, So try to take him to the vet!

Look in the phone book for an emergency vet. It does cost more but, that doesn't matter, your dogs health is more important right? It sounds like Lyme disease to me but, I'm no vet. Its just the same symptoms my dog went through. Could also be neurological. Either way this isn't something that can wait. Good Luck.

Go to phone book and phone emergency vet.

If he can't get up that's a worrying sign. Especially as he seems to have deteriorated so fast.

I don't want to worry you unduly, hopefully your dog will be ok but this shouldn't wait.

Good luck.

Try to stay calm.

Follow whatever instructions your vet gives you.

If you don't understand the instruction, get them to explain.

Get help from family members if they're around.

Take him to the Vet ASAP.Take him to the other city if need be. It could be anything from a Tick to hip dysplasia to congestive heart failure. My dog had the SAME thing happen (but he was an older dog) to him, we thought he was getting better because he started to get up slowly and started moving again (his back legs would still give out). Sadly we were too late...he passed away from congestive heart failure 2 weeks later. So PLEASE get your dog to the vet

good luck...i hope it's nothing serious!

Take him to a vet immediately. Look in the phone book for an emergency vet clinic. he may have been bitten by a snake or scorpion, or stepped on something like a needle with toxic stuff on it.

well for right now
bring the food and water to him
check out his leg to see whats wrong
then call the ANIMAL HOSPITAL
which should be open
vets aren't the only palce to cure animals
well call the hospital up and tell them what is wrong
as see if there is anything basic u could do for now over the phone
and bring him in imediately tomorrow or tonight
to make sure that nothing is severily injured
HURRY.!

There could be a great number of causes to this, he may have been bitten by something or be quite old.

Vets are always on call, I know i am. Ring them up. Their answering machine will have an after hours contact number.
You only need to get him in a car. It shouldn't be a great hassle!!

If you really, truly cannot make it to a vet, at least make sure he doesn't die. If he's eating, that's a good sign, make sure he can eat and drink. If it's something wrong with its limbs, you can feel them, and look for a reaction, he might be hurt. One way or another, you will have to go to a vet.
