Why can't they just answer the question directly? I saw a question asking why would Jesus damn you to hell if he loves you so much and all I saw were silly, brainwashed-type answers. What's up? Can't anyone just say, "I don't know"?

You're referring to the fundamentalists. Most believers respond in a sensible fashion.

Not all of us Christians know what we're talking about. Is that what you want to hear? Well...

How does it start? I have no idea. But I know how it spreads. I think the biggest teacher of mindless Bible thumping is television evangelism. Yes, I've seen some (no, not all, so I'm not talking about all of them). Then some new-born Christian thinks "oh, the Bible must say this and this and this" and they immediately go out to the unbelievers of (in this case, Y!A) and smack people upside the head with stuff they don't really know.

Then there's the few that are willing to take their time and post something logical and well-thought out, and our answers are almost always at the end, and rarely read. I try to give Scriptural reference whenever it's needed, and I think out my answers for a few minutes before writing.

And that's another reason why you immediately see brainwashed psycho Bible-thumping doomsaying answers.

I hope this helps. My e-mail is seth.p@centrum.cz if you have a question that you wanted Christians to answer seriously, but go too many non-answers.

I actually got sent to the principles office than suspended for being 2 days for being incorrigible, when I asked my parochial teacher that same question years ago in 7th grade. I attended catholic school and asked our teacher during our morning religion class " If God is so forgiving, why is there a hell"? I was 12 it was an honest question I really wanted an answer for. When she sent me to the priciples office I was devastated and scared to death, my parents would kill me if they found out! Well they found out and without even listening to my side my father beat the crap out of me with the belt, I never asked another question about anything ever again in school, even when I went into public school in 8th grade.
Now the bigger story behind this is I have never again had much faith in organized religion and the last 7 years have only made it worse! So I say my prayers, I talk to God but I do it at home. We did take our children to church when they were young, only because we wanted them to make their own choice about church, My life is very amazing so I have no doubt God loves me and I don't think he has a problem with me not sitting in a church to pray. I don't think the organized religions of today are what he had in mind! The hatred and intolerence is the things God is most against! You can not tell me God hates the "bleeding heart liberals" who want the killing to stop and to save our world, And the Gay are also his children, what if Gays are a test in tolerence they are failing miserably! Then there are the middle east! Aren't they also our God's children? Why do they feel killing innocent civillians in God's name ok? Murder, killing, stealing, lying, destroying countries and our earth are all acceptable as long as the proclaim it's in God's name or "God" told them they should do it! ( oh yeah I believe God told them to start a war to kill his innocent children)! Oh Please! I think these self proclaimed christians who pick and choose which comanments or golden rules to obey in the name of God, will be spending a lot of time in hell once they have to answer to our maker!

...I apologize on behalf of my ilk. I would love to answer more questions in this section, but who am I? I'm just another guy seeking truth. I don't have all the answers, but I do what I can. If I don't know the answer to a question, I won't answer it.

I think some people on this site feel pressured to answer questions because they do know a little bit, or at least they think that they do. It reflects badly on the Christian population... seems like we don't know how to think or articulate our positions. Fact is, some of the smartest people I know are Christians.

I will also ask a question addressing this and other sides of this issue. I don't really expect people to be civil to me either, but it's about all that I can do.

May God bless you.

If you are really interested in an answer to your question, why are you looking to the people that you seem frustrated with? There is a simplicity in Christ. If you want an answer to why God does something a certain way, why not seek an answer from Him? We are all clueless and have a hazy view of the mysteries of God. That is where faith takes over. Let Him be your guide and watch your mustard seed grow!

It's that old saying, 'if you can't say something good, don't say anthing at all.' Some people do not have any concept of what that means, so they post answers that are derrogatory, or insulting to cover up their ignorance. It is not a shame to be ignorant, but it is to stay that way. Ignorance is not a bad word either. We are all ignorant on some level with certain subjects, but we can become learned in those subjects, thus ending ignorance.

Because that is the answer his/her religion gives. It sounds ridiculous to you because you don't understand that religion. To the answerer his/her response makes as much sense as day is the opposite of night. I agree though, some answers are just plain silly had have no foundation. I don't have the faith I guess.

via fact it fairly is an open communicate board (Edit: particular, it fairly is. in case you do not comprehend that then you do not comprehend what the words propose. through techniques, basically conserving something and thinking human beings will blindly have faith it does not propose they're going to. Your pastor would desire to apply that trick on you, yet i'm afraid it would not artwork for each guy or woman). once you're basically going to allow (or attempt to, as properly) one particular style of answer, why ask the query? in case you already think of of you comprehend the respond and that's the only answer you will pay interest to or perchance settle for then you for particular do not decide to check. you would be able to not ask a query and photograph it fairly is sensible to declare human beings can basically answer in the event that they have faith you. it is not a query, it fairly is a request to have your ego stroked. It sounds plenty such as you are the insecure one right here: not basically do you attempt to get human beings to respond to questions for the only purpose of confirming what you have already have been given self belief, yet you attempt to single out people who disagree with you conserving that they are doing something incorrect? i'm afraid you will stumble on many extra theists copying and pasting arbitrary Bible expenses the placement they don't belong. i've got have been given under no circumstances met an atheist attempting to tug me into their "non-theory". tell me, whilst replaced into the main suitable time an atheist have been given right here knocking on your door with pamphlets and stressful to be enable indoors so as that they are able to lecture you?

Replying people are not only religious but most are just common people. They reply as they know or feel right. Sometimes they reply even if they do not know. They want to run their horses in the unknown fields and result is ridicule.

Because God is a spirit. Some thing that can't be seen at this time, only felt. Like the wind can be felt, but not seen.
Jesus doesn't chose for any one to go to hell. We make our own choices. He gave us a free will. Like some people chose to do things that land them in jail. I have a son in jail, that wasn't my choice, my decision, or my actions that put him there. Our answers are only ridiculious to those who chose not to see.

Hmmm...I don't know. All I know is that I get annoyed when you ask a real religious question and all you get is people saying "the bible says so" or a bunch of copy-&-paste bible passages. Can't they put things into their own words every once in awhile?
