Sara: just the opposite, nothing worse than having someone try to "witness" to you who needs a haircut and their teeth cleaned. Many hypocrites who call themselves "christians" shamefully abuse this verse from the inspired Paul, claiming he was speaking about a "custom":

1 Corinthians 11:14 KJV: Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

Paul did not use the word CUSTOM. The word is--whoever translates it:

Phusis (g5449) foo'-sis; from 5453; growth (by germination or expansion), i.e. (by impl.) natural production (lineal descent); by extens. a genus or sort; fig. native disposition, constitution or usage: - ([man-]) kind, nature ([-al]).

Scripture uses the word in a good and bad sense:

Galatians 2:15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

If we partake of the divine nature we are not just "traditionalists" or "fundamentalists":

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The word SHAME in 1 Corinthians 11:14 is:

Atimia (g819) at-ee-mee'-ah; from 820; infamy, i.e. (subj.) comparative indignity, (obj.) disgrace: - dishonour, reproach, shame, vile.

Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:"

Romans 1:27 KJV: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

"natural" here is: "fusikov" - produced by nature, inborn; agreeable to nature; governed by (the instincts of) nature.

Likewise the inspired Peter instructed women:

1 Peter 3:3-6

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement."

The Bodies of mankind bear God's image:

"Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:" - Colossians 3:9,10. (see also Genesis 9:6).

The sweet Psalmist of Israel declared in Psalm 139 "I am fearfully and wonderfully made".

When we look at the complexity of the human body we know that a woman came first on earth before a baby, this didn't happen by chance or evolve from rocks or dirt (where did the rocks and dirt come from?).

The woman has breasts that could change blood to milk --- we have intelligence --- a respiratory system, a circulatory system, digestive system, reproductive system, endoctrine system, all of which have complex components within themselves as well as hands, a brain, skin, bones, a skeletal system, etc etc. Just as a watch does not blow together in the wind, it is carefully designed so too do we have a Designer.

Many professed Christians ignore the words of the Bible that say men sould not wear their hair long and on other matters of personal hygiene claiming that those commands (and just above every other instruction in the Bible) are legalism, but they are only fooling themselves.

Good hygiene is not evil, not sure where you got that! But I am also quite sure of one thing the quote many used here "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." I would venture to state that most of them could not tell you where it is from. It is 2 Hezekiah 2:15.

Now those that are headed for their Bibles to mark that have failed, there is no 2 Hezekiah, and the quote is not in the Bible at all it is like "God helps those that help themselves." In short personal grooming is important but at the same time it is not a Heaven or Hell issue. What is a Heaven or Hell issue is that you follow the Word of God. Peter was asked what must a person do to be saved, he replied with a simple statement...Repent (that means turn from your sins) and be Baptized (that means to be immersed in water) in the Name of Jesus Christ (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are titles not name) for the remission (removal) of sins, and you shall (not might) receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

Sara I can only tell you one thing:

Cleanliness is next to Godliness!

for 10 points: I am not joking- We have a laundry next to a Church and I am trying to convince Joe the owner of the Laundry to change the name of the cleaners to "Cleanliness is next to Godliness"

The clergy and much of the gentry thought good hygiene and sanitary medical practices were evil and the "work of Witches and Satan" in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Is being considerate of others(not stinking up the place) and taking good care of your mortal shell and preventing the spread of disease evil? No.

no, the opposite actually. but sometimes i wonder if my nephew understands that, or maybe he thinks it's evil too. p.u. he smells every time i see him, and his house is gross and his truck is gross, and his clothes are always dirty and torn.
