the word tolerance does not come up in my concordance.
Notice that one can't tolerate someone unless he disagrees with him. We don't "tolerate" people who share our views. They're on our side. There's nothing to put up with. Tolerance is reserved for those we think are wrong.
This essential element of tolerance--disagreement--has been completely lost in the modern distortion of the concept. Nowadays, if you think someone is wrong, you're called intolerant.
This presents us with a very curious problem. Judging someone wrong makes one intolerant, yet one must first think another is wrong in order to be tolerant. It's a "Catch-22." According to this approach, true tolerance is impossible.

I don't know that religious people are any more sensitive to criticism than anyone else. Being tolerant has little, if anything, to do with unwarranted attacks, or responding to them. You might want to note that only Christians are expected to "turn the other cheek" if attacked; the rest of us will stick up for ourselves as we're taught.

We don`t mind honest criticism. What we mind is the pure insulting some folks do just for the fun of it. . Come here telling us we are idiots and morons, And other loving things. No one likes to be talked down to and then expect a nice response. We are after all humans with feelings... It is OK to disagree, but, not OK to abuse.

You are right about the fact that God teaches tolerance. Does tolerance mean to be a DOORMAT? No, it doesn't. No matter what religion you are or who you are abuse means abuse and tolerance means tolerance. Look them up in the dictionary. It might help you.

Because religion may superficial preach tolerance, but what it actually TEACHES is biggotry and hatred.
And besides, I think that somewhere deep down inside themselves, most religious people know how rediculous their fairytales really are.

i'm going to admit human beings may be over mushy, yet i think of phraseology of questions has plenty to do with it to boot. i ought to ask you a similar. Why is it while a christian investigates technology that is going against the oftentimes frequently used they are met with hostility and while somebody who isn't non secular does a similar they are purely on the verge of a medical bounce forward?

Some are still babes in Christ. In actuality, they shouldn't subject themselves to this sort of 'mixing it up with the world' as it cuts the spirit.
I would say to have patience with them but I already know, for the most part, it's futile.
