I had to put my dog to sleep this year and it was one of the most painful things I've ever endured. but you know what? I knew that my dog had a good life, and that she was really loved. I was also there when they put her to sleep, so I knew she wouldn't be alone and scared. It was pretty hard, but it was better than having her suffer.
You have to focus on the things you have control over. You can't worry about everything that could possibly happen to your dog (getting old, getting sick, getting hit by a car). You can only be the best owner you know how to be, and take care of your dog and love her and be there for her and promise her that whatever comes, you'll be there for her.
All things die at some point. It's nature. What is important is to make her life (and yours!) as full and wonderful as possible. And some day, if you have to make the decision about putting her to sleep, you'll know. Promise her (and yourself) a humane death when the time comes, and for now, enjoy life.

Dog death is nothing diff than human's death. its part of life. imagine u have a best friend that u grew up with and u lose him/her in a mnt. eventully, ull move on, but ur memories will live with ur all ur life. all u can do is just make da best out of da time dat yall have 2gether and b happy. when da time comes, ull know dat u did all u could have done 2 make her happy. my bf had a dog 4 12 yrs, he literally grew up with him, a yr ago, he passed away, as a christian person, we prayed that GOD would take better care of him than mean/violence people would EVER have. dont be scared of death, just think of it as a transition 2 a better life.

I have a 9 year old going to be 10 in Jan and a 6 year old. It's hard to think that the time will come. For now, enjoy your dog! You still have plenty of time, so make it worth it!

My dog is a 13 year old Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix, and she still acts like she is a puppy. Treat her well, play with her, and let her feel loved. You are the most important thing in her life, so you should bring joy to her everytime you see her. Keep that chin up, she isn't going anywhere for a long while yet.

Your wasting time and energy and causing unnecessary stress by worrying.
Enjoy her, she's young. Take care of her, watch her health and she will give you a life full of enjoyment and love.
Unfortunately their is a time for it to end, but you can't dwell on that now. You will know when it's time later in life. I had to put my dog down after 14yrs and it was hard to do, but I owed it to him to end his suffering.
It's been over a year and I only remember the happy times, plus I got a new puppy and the cycle continues.

Make every minute you spend with your dog count. Don't think about the possibility that your dog will die. Think of happy thoughts and that your dog will stay with you forever. Even if it does pass, it will remember what a great owner it had and that is when you have done your job as a dog lover.

well it depends on the breed also the bigger the dog less years they live sometimes the big dogs do live to be 14 or 15 depending. smaller dogs can live 12 years soemtimes older. its sad but all have to go at one time or another. if they are old then you have to take more care and watch them make sure they aren't hurting if they are then putting them to sleep is best way. its hard but one has to do this. sorry

When my dog turned six, I started worrying too.
He died when he was 18.
Those were the greatest 18 years of my life. As will the years with your dog seem to you. Just enjoy the pooch.

My dog will be eleven. And yes I know what you mean and feel what you feel but there really isn't anything I can tell you to make you feel better you're just going to have to deal with it when the time comes. It'll be hard but you'll make it through.

Enjoy every minute, and know that life is short. Don`t fear what you know will come.
7 year isn`t too much thoug. So unless your dog is sick, he should be with you for some more time.
