All religion IS mythology.
Christianity will be remembered as one of the most successful, longest-lasting cults in human history. It will also be remembered, along with Islam, as a religion which most often ignored the root teachings of its founder in favor of the acquisition of power in its own name.
In the greater scheme of things, it's a blip on the scope of history.

I think you're slamming Christianity, but be that as it may, I'd go for classical mythology because the study of Christian mythology is more readily available outside the academic world than classical mythology. Take advantage of the resources while they are available. You might learn the technical definition of mythology which goes something like this: Mythology is a belief or system of beliefs which significantly influences how a people think and behave; a world view. Notice that this definition says nothing about the veracity of the belief(s).

What is 'world mythology'?

Also, anyone who does not fully understand what mythology is or does when it comes to the human mind has no right belittling it.

We *dream* in mythological terms. Our most powerful verbal communication (poetry) is based on 'mythology'.

Maybe you should learn about something before you treat it with no respect.

Christendom (apostatized Christianity) borrows heavily from mythology(paganism).
True Christianity, is devoid of the contamination of pagan doctrines.

The first is about a relationship with God (reality stuff). The second is about mythology (made up stuff)

If you cannot see the difference, please don't play with any "toy" guns, and certainly do not dress as any superhero who can fly or stop a train for halloween.

The message of Christianity is given in the context of REAL PEOPLE (Jews) living in REAL TIME (1500 BC - 100 AD) in REAL PLACES (Egypt, Israel/Palestine).

Nothing about mythology is real.
