I guess the issue is that when i was like 10, I ate all the foods most little kids do. but i never changed. i was never really in situations to try new things. I went to a very calm highschool, not full of drinking and drugs and all that. i'm not relgious but grew up with many friends who were. So now I'm 22, dont drink any alchol, dont eat salads, fish, forgien cusine, I could go on. now when i go out to eat or go out with a girl to a bar like enviorment. i'm looked at like i'm wierd. I've tried most of these foods and they just don't appeal to me, i seem to only like the foods i grew up on like chesseburgers, pizza, pasta, chicken, soda & juices, and things of that nature. Is there a way that over time my tastes will change so i can enjoy a more adult varitey of foods or is this just how it is with me.

My first reaction to your situation is "so what is the problem?" I am not trying to be sarcastic but if you are willing to try new things and you don't like them, "So What?". The point is to continue to try things and maybe you will find some different items that you like. Things that you like, not things that other people like. Food should be about nourishing your body in the most healthy way possible and at least once a week enjoying a treat.

So if you go out for Italian, order the pizza if you want it but maybe order an appetizer that you have never had and give it a try.

Food is supposed to be enjoyable not a struggle.

I am a good cook and a wonderful baker as I have been told and I have a rule for my family, take one bite. If you don't like it don't eat it, the point is you took one bite and gave it a chance. Sometimes they surprise themselves and like what they bit.

I'm 30 and only started to eat salads about 2 years ago. I had just never liked them, and all of a sudden, they started appealing to me. And most of the time when I go out, I either get a burger, club, or a baked potato and salad, and people think I'm weird that I don't eat steaks. LOL I just don't really like the meat taste...would rather smother it in ketchup, and they REALLY fuss when you "ruin" a steak with ketchup. :o) So I guess the short answer is, yes, you're tastes will probably change at least a little as you get older, but if they don't, you certainly aren't alone.

It sounds like you were raised on a very steady diet of same-old-same-old. First, I'm angry that your mother LET you be this picky, but I am curious, is that what everyone in your family eats?

If you want to change, give yourself a regular goal for expanding your options. Maybe start slow. 1 day per week, eat something that is NOT on your limited menu. Choose a day, and simply avoid YOUR foods that day. I see no vegetables in your diet. You NEED to fix that. There is a limit to how long you can live on the starchy junk that you list. Eat green veggies until you find a few that you can make yourself eat. Lettuce is not all alike. There are many types. Try them. You may like some, and hate some.

I don't think you're alone with this, I just got done watching the CNN special on 'weight in America' and MOST of it has to do with the food we are eating, and of course as we all know, our horrible eating habits were formed as children.

But to answer your question: You're eating habits aren't going to spontaneously change on their own!!! YOU are going to have to make an effort to eat healthier by taking responsibility for your life and your health. Then and only then will you become a True Adult. =)

**lol... okay I just added that last part for affect... you're an adult now... LOL**

Try taking a cooking class. You will learn a lot about how to prepare new foods, that might spark your interest in a different way of eating.

Here are some great healthy recipes that I have found.

I'm a little younger than you but I'm the same way! I always thought my tastes in food would change but it hasn't... I guess you just have to eat the foods you don't like more often so that you get used to it...their an acquired taste! ")

i'm older than you and eat exactly like you; pizza, hamburgers, chocolates and chips. There is nothing wrong with that as long as you watch the calories and don't get too big.

Eat what makes you happy and don't listen to anybody that says anything different. Most people who preach "healthy eating" are anorexics who starve themselves to look good.
