always try to like shove their beliefs down your throats?

seriously, like every single vegetarian i've met lectured me about why eating meat is bad and it's like "DUDE!! I DON'T CARE SHUT UP!".

has anything like that ever happened to you?
and if you're a vegetarian/vegan do you do that to other people?

I am a meat eater but I don't shove my beliefs down other people's throats either. What vegetarians need to realize is that humans would have been extinct a long time ago, if they hadn't eaten meat. Cavemen back then relied on eating meat to survive, they didn't feed on fruits/veggies much. Next time you meet a vegetarian, you can give them a reality check on what I said.

I've been a vegetarian, and I try not to talk about it. I've had SO many people try to tell me that I'm unhealthy, or that for every animal I don't eat they'll eat three. To the first one, no I'm not, and to the second one, I say go ahead, I'm not going to stop you!

The only time I ever talk about meat being bad is when I'm pressed for a reason behind my vegetarianism. No one is ever really satisfied with my answer of, "I just am, I have been for a really long time," or "It's just not something I'm comfortable eating." Everyone needs an explanation. When I'm repeatedly asked, I generally say that I don't like to eat dead things and that I have a bit of an ethical issue with it.

I understand how obnoxious it can be to be preached at either way. My sister is a vegan and I've endured snotty little comments like "Ewww...you're eating cheese? You know why they do to make that, right?" That's when I take a page out of your book and yell "Dude! I DON'T CARE SHUT UP!" :)

Maybe you've just met some 'new' vegetarians who are still very keen rather than those of us who've been veggo for so long it's just an ordinary part of life.

Truth be told, I think veggoes are the ones who usually have the most trouble with people not 'catering' to our special needs!

But regardless of that, no-one has the right to force their beliefs on you or harrass you for not agreeing with them.

If you feel pushed or harrassed by the friends, just let them know (with a humorous tone) that although you respect their right to have their own views, you don't share them, and going on about it is just driving you into disagreeing more because being vegetarian has made them act very irritating!

Then change the subject ~ but NOT to food!

Cheers :-)

I'm a vegetarian, and no I've never done that to other people. I have the opposite problem, people getting offended if I don't eat meat. People either think I'm a snob for not eating their food, or they feel the need to go out of their way to get other food for me despite the fact that it upsets them to go to the trouble. I've been a vegetarian over 15 years, and I never have problems with it personally, I don't mind other people eating meat. I don't mind not eating if nothing is available that I like. It's an individual decision either way.

I usually don't even tell people unless they ask me. I wouldn't bug people about all the reasons to be a vegetarian. Never happened to me since I'm already a vegetarian. Though I've had some one say I should eat meat and kind of said it was silly, whatever. People can eat meat if they want, it's none of my business.

I'm vegetarian (bordering on vegan; I'll only eat regular yogurt), but I don't shove my beliefs down carnivores' throats unless they're trying to stuff their pro-meat propoganda down my throat. In the breakroom at work, people watch me like hawks, always asking if I miss eating meat or not. THAT is rude. I think it's just as offensive for meat eaters to cram their pro-meat choices down my throat.

I know quite a few vegetarians and I've never received a lecture like the one you're describing. I'm sorry this has been your experience. I'm sure that there are a lot of tolerant people out there. Hopefully meat-eaters like you and me will follow their example and remember that we shouldn't lecture those who don't eat meat.

In the beginning when God created man He gave man the best food that suit man digestive System: Fruits, Nuts and Grains. Now we knew that it contain fiber, antioxidant, rich in nutrients: minerals, vitamins, herbs, life enzymes, protein, carbohydrate, etc. Disease in plant Tod not transmit to man but from animal there is a greater risk. Blood contain many infectious disease and animal fats clog your blood vessels. Frankly I love eating meat but I eat them less due to health reason. The the increase use of growth hormone, genetic engineering, pollutions etc. eating meat have higher risk to our health than eating meat. Probably your vegetarian friends care for your health, I do not think they are trying to shove it down your throat. With the increase of pollution and disease plus pure depleted soil of nutrient. It is healthier to eat vegetarian foods as long as it is clean from pesticide, herbicide and all kind of chemicals.

No. I am a vegetarian and I don't tell others to stop eating meat, unless I'm writing a persuasive essay...
I do not do that to other people because they can choose what they want to eat.
Seriously, they do have a point. Just listen to what they have to say. Maybe they're trying to tell you something.
