Somehow my desktop settings were changed. And here is what I want: I want the “message box” on my desktop icons not to have a color. But I cannot find any scheme that allows “no color” when I go through the properties of either “Appearance” or “Desktop”. By “message box” I mean the part where it is written things like Recycle Bin, My Computer, etc.

U want ur desktop icons transparent-

2 do so, right click on "my computer"
click Properties
from "Advanced" tab click "Settings" button under performance,
from "Visual Effects" tab make sure that-
"Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is tick marked.

you have "lock web items onto desktop" enabled, disable it and i'll go away you can disable it by right clicking the desktop and going to arange desktop then unchecking the box next to lock web items to desktop. your desktop will resfresh and it'll be gone
